dont buy newyou can get some pretty nice cars that were over that limit if you buy used
10/25/2005 1:12:24 PM
z06
10/25/2005 1:16:35 PM
i just want a viperso that is what i would go withbut the z06 is the best value
10/25/2005 1:18:34 PM
Of the ones you listed, I'd probably choose the z06 or 911. Viper is flashy and impractical, NSX looked better before its last restyle, I've just never been a Mercedes person.Of ones you didn't list--What about a BMW 650ci ($71k) or M5 ($81k)? Jag XKR ($83k)? I would have suggested the Audi RS6, but alas, that perished with the last-generation A6 platform.
10/25/2005 1:23:14 PM
M6
10/25/2005 1:23:23 PM
^M6 isn't out yet, otherwise I definitely would have said it.
10/25/2005 1:24:04 PM
10/25/2005 1:24:28 PM
I don't think she wants a 4 door, hence no M5.I'd pick the Z06 or 911 Carrera S
10/25/2005 1:28:27 PM
Either of the Mercedes would be a sweet car to own for years. The Vette wins on sportscar abilities, but you can't go wrong with the Porsche either. People will be gawking over that Porsche years after the Vette has lost their interest.
10/25/2005 1:49:07 PM
porsche
10/25/2005 1:50:26 PM
Oh you forgot two cars. The Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG. The new SLK model is sweet, and with that engine even sweeter! The other car you should look at is the Porsche Cayman S
10/25/2005 1:50:45 PM
a slightly used 911 turbo or turbo S would be my choice. a z06 would be the best value though
10/25/2005 1:56:08 PM
Buying a new sports car is dumb.Get a 1-2 yr old car...let the first owner bear the price of depreciation. If it's a sports car chances are that it wouldn't have been driven a lot anyway.

10/25/2005 2:03:53 PM
oh i'm in no rush... we are just thinking that down the road a bit we might want a fun car. just toying with the idea... i don't like the BMW 6 series at all - well honestly any of the new BMW body styles really. what year could you get a 911 turbo for less than $100k?
10/25/2005 2:04:15 PM
10/25/2005 2:04:40 PM
Why would anyone NOT want one of these?
10/25/2005 2:05:26 PM
yupNot many people buy a $100k sports car for HARD DRIVING.Not manyThat said, I agree with not getting a BMW...I dunno why people even look at those ugly toys.I'd get a Mercedes or a Corvette.

10/25/2005 2:09:30 PM
I would say a Z06, especially after watching that video. I'd imagine the car is scary fast and way cheaper than every other car on your list. No point in getting a 911 turbo, this thing is going to be faster.Imagine keeping up with cars that cost $200k+, and I'm not just talking about in a straight line. One other thing, the C5 Z06 is still probably a whole lot of fun and can be obtained used in the $30k range. [Edited on October 25, 2005 at 2:34 PM. Reason : ]

Well, for one, I wouldn't buy one new. Period.I would absolutely love to drive a viper. But I would LOVE to own a porsche 911.
10/25/2005 3:22:39 PM
I don't mean to be a fanboy here guys, but I might just have to go with a R32 GTR or a R34GTRIf not those, then I would have to get a Morgan or an old collectible like an E-Type

porsche 911 carrera S - rear-engine, 3.8 liters, 6 cyl., 355 hp, 295 lb-ft @ rpm 4,600 rpm - $81k!= supercarGet your terminology straight man.

I WISH I WORKED FOR THE OIL COMPANIES AND COULD LOOK AT PURCHASING A 100K SPORTS CAR
10/25/2005 3:50:03 PM
You can get 996 Turbos for under 100k easily. I would get a 997 Carrera 4S over a turbo 996 any day of the week. I am not a fan of the 996 at all. I would personally like a 993 since it will be a while before I could ever plump down the large sum for a 997.
10/25/2005 3:55:00 PM
^^^sorry I meant sports car. Not sure where supercar came from But it does have supercar performance...if compared to supercars from the 80s ^yeah I like the 993 WAY MORE than the (unloved) 996 and would prefer it as well.[Edited on October 25, 2005 at 3:56 PM. Reason : k]

if this car doesn't have to be primary transportation (or even if it does for either you or your husband, and you can get away with only having one practical car between the two of you), get a Lotus Elise for $45k or a Lotus Exige for $55k (MSRP, anyway...don't know if the Exige will get marked up at the dealer)option B would be a Z06 or 911, or possibly a used Porsche Turbo. The Elise and Exige (especially the Exige) won't put down Z06 level acceleration numbers, but they're pretty quick. very low 13s in the 1/4, which is faster than all but the most bad ass production cars. they look sweet, they're pretty exclusive (especially the Exige...probably only 200-300 per year to the U.S.), and they're probably the most purebred sports cars ever built. i doubt you could find anything that would outhandle them or be more fun to drive.[image]http://www.econ.kuleuven.be/public/ndbaf47/Wallpapers/Lotus/Lotus-Exige-07-1024.jpg[/image]That's the Exige......and that's the Elisethe Elise is a targa top whereas the Exige is a hardtop. the Exige is also a little more aggressively tuned in the suspension and aero departments.[Edited on October 25, 2005 at 4:00 PM. i'd take the porsche if it was primary transportation but agree with you on the elise if it was a secondary car.

Don't judge a sports car JUST by the number of cylinders...not that I like the Elise.
10/25/2005 4:10:45 PM
the Exige is bad ass...but it might be a little too bad ass...for a girl.Yeah, they're both 4cyl...that doesn't really mean anything though. I assure you that it will have enough power to keep you entertained.
10/25/2005 4:11:11 PM
aha yeah yeah. i think if they'd take off those things over the tops of the windows it'd look better.
