I have a very simple microphone Plantronics .Audio 15. It turns out it doesn't work with my Mac. A quick serch on Google revealed that "MAc users might require an additional adapter". What is it? I wonder if I need to buy that or just invest in a better microphone.

You probably need a line level mic.

Either:

1.) Yes, preferably a digital mic that connects via USB. Mac OS X supports most USB mics without needing additional drivers.

2.) No, if you buy an adapter like an iMic (from Griffin Technologies).
