But the Braves have to win their 15th straight division title to show that they can even overcome the loss of Mazzone. I figure they'll appoint some no name and just let the veteran pitchers do most of the teaching. I mean, Mazzone's thing was to always pitch that outside corner. You'd think that some pitchers/other coaches woulda picked up on that by now.

Im am sick and tired of the Braves not making any trades or signing any big free agents. Its getting fucking annoying. Sure, they got Hudson, but they never get any big offensive free agents. They have passed up on so much talent the past 3 years its not even funny. Arod, Manny, Delgado, Vladdy, Sexson, Beltre, Thome, Shawn Greene. They got Sheffield, onyl to see him become their best player, then let him leave. This is why corporations should never own a sports team. They don't spend the money it takes to win. They need a badass 1st basemen, and we see Konerko is available, and I they aren't even in the mix to get him. [Edited on November 23, 2005 at 8:57 PM. Reason : .]

^^i don't remember that post, at all

ahahahhahahathe braves are never gonna sign an AROD/MANNY/DELGADO/GREENE type playerif you want $22million players, chear for the yankees or red soxthe braves are about building from within and always have been. no other team does it better either -- the twins are close thoughwith all our young talent, we're gonna have a very competitive team for under $80 million. that's incredible. maybe if the stiffs at time warner loosen up, the budget can increase over the next few years. i don't see that happening though, so you might as well learn to deal with it.the braves do a good job of signing low-rent veterans and getting the most out of them before sending them out to pasture. they avoid jacked up salaries from free agency and arbitration, the traps that so many other teams fall into.we don't need a 'badass' first baseman. konerko is over rated. let schuerholz and the professionals do their jobs.either stop being a fucking idiot, or go buy a yankees cap

Im a huge Braves fan, about as big as they get, I am just sick and tired of being let down in the post season. And obviously the "professionals" aren't doing their job too well. 1 World Series in 14 badass years is just not good enough. They have no players they can build around. No top offensive talent that can carry them in the post season. Sure, they can make it there, but we keep losing year in and year out. So something has got to change.

Ask a Cubs fan what 1 title in 14 years would mean to them [Edited on November 23, 2005 at 11:07 PM. Reason : .]

i agree that the one title has been dissapointing, but to say that the executives aren't doing there jobs is ridiculousyou have to realize that the nature of the post season is beneficial to the team that is hottest in october -- which is why three of the last four WS have been won by wild card teams. those teams are usually fighting for a spot for the last two months and come into the playoffs on a streak.the braves usually wrap up the division in early september and get complacent, which is no fault of theirswinning the WS is the ultimate prize, but the playoffs are a totally different enviroment. its a lot harder to be consistent over a 162 game schedule than it is to win 11 games in octoberi'd love to have seen the braves win more titles in the past 14 years, but i'd rather them win the division every year than take the course the marlins have, winning 2 WS and living in the cellar every other year
11/23/2005 11:47:23 PM
cellar's a little strong. they have been middle tier in the division mostly.
11/23/2005 11:49:27 PM
yeah, well anywhere other than first doesn't count
