Name your list...I figure the top 4 is general consensus, but I expect the last one to definitely be a toss up. But since I'm in Carolina country, I expect lots of "Steve Smith's" as their fifth or higher

In no particular order..

Randy Moss (Best blend of size, speed, catching and leaping ability in the game)
Terrell Owens (Incredibly talented, can find way into end zone...keeps Philly from sucking)
Torry Holt (Always consistent, puts up good numbers and has sure hands)
Marvin Harrison (I like to consider him as Jerry Rice of the last five years)


Chad Johnson (I take him over Smith because he has the size and is better for the deep ball. Has some timely drops sometimes, but he's making his way into the upper elite of the NFL. Helps make Carson Palmer look good)

1. TO- a threat anywhere on the field, and doesn't take plays off ala Randy Moss
2. Chad Johnson- he talks the talk but backs it up
3. Randy Moss- dominant, big time deep threat when he wants to be
4. Torry Holt- incredible route runner, great hands, very efficient

5. TIE: Marvin Harrison (sure, consistent threat that Peyton can depend on, but possibly beginning to slip), Steve Smith (has stepped it up as THE option in the Panthers offense), D. Mason (has been productive as the only wideout threat and no decent QB), Hines Ward (very physical, very productive)

If I have to pick one I'll take Hines Ward.

I wasn't basing ranks based on things that are happening over the course of the year. I mean, it takes several years to be considered one of the best. One year wonders like Peerless Price don't cut it.

Hines Ward is a GREAT choice...I'd probably have him at #6 for me

I really don't see much difference from Harrison to Ward though. It's pretty much TO, then the other 6 guys all just a bit behind, with all others clearly behind this group.

Steve has explosiveness which I like, but I don't think his route-running is that great nor his size. Most of Smith's big plays have been little screens or short routes that he used his speed to find a gap. Now if Steve plays against a solid CB who doesn't give up the little screens or get beat on a crossing route(Bly held him most of the game until that screen and the crossing play which it showed the replay and said he thought he had inside help but didn't) he won't look nearly as impressive.

Last year Chad Johnson scored all over Champ Bailey. That's impressive considering Champ(when healthy) is as solid a CB as you can find.

So, here are my top 5 WR's(route-running, size, hands, speed, and big-play power):
1.) TO
2.) Randy Moss
3.)Torry Holt
4.)Chad Johnson
5.)Hines Ward(all-around WR, blocks, catches, and still has some juice)

And to round out the top 10...
6) Marvin Harrison
7/8)These spots are a tie. Santana Moss and Steve Smith are pretty much the EXACT same player on different teams, both are similar in speed and size and have not so great QB's throwing to them.
9) Jimmy Smith
10/11)Javon Walker/Plaxico Burress. 2 young WR's on the rise, too bad Walker took a step back with the injury but he'll be back next year.

Chad is the hardest working of the 5 and him and Steve bring it every sunday and are very dependable and durable. Torry can take over a game if the ball is thrown his way and is the best fundamentally. Terrell is the best athlete of them all and can't be stopped if he doesn't want to be. Marvin is a A- reciever who has been make an A+ by a great quarterback. Give Marvin somebody like Patrick Ramsay or Matt Hasselback and see what he does. Randy Moss gets left off the list be cause he's purely a down field reciever ... he's not willing to go over the middle and block.

Overall:
1. Randy Moss - single most dangerous threat out there and has the ability to change the game at any given time he's not triple teammed, sometimes even if.
2. Terrell Owens - best combination of speed, size, power and athleticism with great hands.
3. Chad Johnson - T.O. lite but could be better than T.O. in a few years if not already.
4. Torry Holt - can't argue with speed, precise route running and sure hands.
5. Hines Ward - hardest working WR in the game who does all the little things too.

Honorable Mention
Marvin Harrison - great route runner who is just consistent as can be.
Steve Smith - enjoying break out year, has incredible speed but undersized.
Santana Moss - see Steve Smith.
Plaxico Burress - great size and athleticism and showing signs of maturity now.
Anquan Boldin - still putting up stats with bad team and coming off injury

Terrell Owens is the best, but to say he keeps Philly from sucking...come on, they went to 3 straight NFC title games w/o him and got to through the playoffs w/o him. McNabb and Westbrook along with the defense help out a lot. But T.O. is def. a difference maker, and when he's on the field, its all about football.

Hard to tell if Harrison is declining or not. They've got so many weapons and Manning finds them all. Not to mention that this year, team's are content with letting Colts run all over the field. Thats the only way they can stop the pass.

Even as a Redskins fan, I have to laugh at that. He's fast, but he's 5-foot-nothing and only a decent route runner. Doesn't hold a candle to the TO, Holt, Moss, Johnson, Smith, Muhammed, or Harrison.

Hell, I think Anquan Boldin could be mentioned. He may not be yet, but he's one of the best young WR's ever. If he ever gets on a decent team, I think he'll be pretty special

I just gotta put Steve Smith #3 right now.

There is no bigger threat to turn a 2 yard screen or a 12 yard slant into an 80 yard TD.

#1 T Owens is the complete package and makes tough catches, red zone catches, long catches, etc

#2 Randy Moss draws defensive attention and catches deep balls.. he just doesnt catch enough balls to be ahead of TO in my opinion

#4 Torry holt is the ultimate possession receiver (better than Marvin at this point i think) he just doesnt draw as much deep attention. great double moves on his routes

#5 Chad Johnson is a TO clone that just isnt QUITE as good but is damn close...


Harrison is my #6 i think

He has 3 more TDs than Santana Moss, but Moss has more receiving yards. Smith also has a better quarterback throwing to him than Moss and has played in one more game this season than Moss.

Harrison would be putting up better numbers if Manning realized he was open on like 90% of his plays.

im pretty sure the 18 additional points that Smith has scored for his team are more important than the extra yards Moss has gotten

and you say Smith does not have great hands? he doesnt have the best hands in the league or whatever but his hands are fine...i dont know where you come up with that

and it doesnt matter who either of them has throwing to them when Smith catches a 2 yard screen pass and then breaks 2 tackles and outruns the whole secondary...that has nothing to do with the QB
