close to $1000. I was looking at the Denon AVR-3805. Is there anything else in this price range that would be better. Would it be better to look into seperates?

Buy the higher end Yamahas

and then hook them up to good speakers

I personally favor Bose.

If you have an hd tv...the yamaha 5990 has hdmi on the receiver and does hdmi upconvert. Its got pretty much the same specs as the denon other than the hdmi part and its the same price
