[OLD]Go out and buy Interstella 5555. Still old but it's something different
10/3/2005 11:12:49 AM
it's not different at all
10/3/2005 12:25:07 PM
Dammit...I knew you would make some king of comment on that! Well if watching a movie that goes along with the music from the album is not different than sitting around just listening to the music, then.................I'm sorry
10/3/2005 12:27:44 PM
INTELLECTUAL MUSIC CRITIC ALERT!Chill dude..If I wanted something different I would ask..just reflecting on a good album..
10/3/2005 12:51:24 PM
haha- no no, he's teasinginterstella 5555 is basically the music of Discovery set to a cartoon movie of sortsworth a view if you like Discovery
10/3/2005 1:19:43 PM
didn't they use to play that on cartoon network every now and then?
10/3/2005 1:22:41 PM
Indeed a good album, possibly my overall favorite Daft Punk release
10/3/2005 1:44:16 PM
Discovery is an abomination.
10/3/2005 1:47:06 PM
heh, nice try....
10/3/2005 2:06:16 PM
If by "abomination" you mean "silly disco funk awesomeness," then yes.

It's no "Homework", but I liked it. Kind of in the vein of Bangalter's other Roulé releases. It really set a bunch of people up for disappointment with "Human After All", the discoveries were expecting more funkpop and got "Alive" through an overdrive pedal. I figured it would end up breaking out sooner or later, you had the Daft Punk fans who liked Da Funk and those who liked Around The World. But if I had to rank them I'd go:HomeworkDiscoveryHuman After AllDaft Clubthe ones that never made it on a cd like Musique and The New Wave would probably be right below homework and Bangalter's other productions under different names like Stardust and Romanthony would probably be right below that.[Edited on October 3, 2005 at 3:35 PM. "hey look at me! i know how to use a vocoder!"[/hopes i'm remembering the right album from years ago]
10/3/2005 3:41:02 PM
i don't remember that track

On top of that, a guitar talkbox isn't even a processor. There's a driver at the end of the tube that fires the guitar signal into the player's mouth, which he shapes with his mouth and then aims toward a mic that picks up the "talking" signal. It's basically just a tiny amp in a box.

I just want to say that if you don't think Discovery is a great album you don't know music!
10/3/2005 5:34:41 PM
of course that's true!. . .because knowing music is all about liking particular bands.if you don't like shostakovich's fifth symphony you don't know music!
10/3/2005 6:11:21 PM
I just want to say that if you don't know Chico & the Man, you don't know comedy!
10/3/2005 6:31:29 PM
And everybody loves Raymond.

Interstella 5555 is awesome. The blue people are hot and the music is amazing

Daft Punk's Human After All was more of a statement about mediocrity and current music trends, than an actual attempt at a 'Homework'/'Discovery'esqe album.
10/4/2005 12:06:23 PM
the video for "technologic" blows asshttp://www.daftpunk.com/tech.mov
10/4/2005 12:23:49 PM
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"Hey, guys, remember when we made that shitty album? It was actually a concept album that we purposely did a half-ass job on."
10/4/2005 2:08:49 PM
laugh all you want but it's true, why do you think the album is titled "Human After All" And I never said it was "shitty" it was just not as complex of an album. The songs are still cleaver, and overall I think the album was a success.[Edited on October 4, 2005 at 2:18 PM. Reason : asdf]

this....this is true

I like human after all, it's not homework or discovery, but its a really good album. Discovery was much more pop and kind of chill. Human after all was more pounding and electric, a return to the "robot". The album itself was really short, but it spawned some great singles (although the music vids did suck comparibly). The max overdrive version of Robot Rock is awesome, and the Peaches and Basement Jaxx mixes of technologic were better than the originals (nice to see after the meh remixes on daft club). I doubt it's a comment on current music trends, the music scene surrounding european house is a bit different, if they wanted to comment on that they would have named their album "Sawtooth+subosc Bassline" or "Hook From A 70's Rock Song Looped Ad Nauseum".

http://71.68.29.59/house/daftIn case anyone else wants to give them a listen.I was really happy about these singles, a full 4 mixes on a 33, much better than my "One More Time" and "Around the World" singles with only one track on them and a blank B-side.
