The owner of Rotorsports Racing in Kannapolis just got his 3 rotor FD dynotuned to 530rwhp @ 11psi. He's an SCCA racer who only runs on the track... I've seen his trophies. He used to run this widebody 1st gen on the track all the time back in the day apparently. I wish I had remembered to get a picture of the two cars when I was down there.I could relay to him a friendly challenge. Integra will be pwnt though.[Edited on September 27, 2005 at 11:57 PM. If you're actually serious, I'll send him a PM on the Rx-7 forums. He's supposed to be bringing the car up to Raleigh next month for a 7 meet. You could even talk to him then. He's a cool guy, not a shit talker at all.
9/28/2005 12:08:45 AM
im down for it.just gotta find a place and date.
9/28/2005 12:11:21 AM
we can do a NASA race. or something with an HPDE. im only in level 3. if he has lotsa track time and experience he could be there also, or very well in the level 4 (if he wants to instruct).so then we will be able to run together. and we can add fordHater and his brother to the mix. make it real interesting
9/28/2005 12:24:17 AM
No racing in HPDEs please kids...Ahmet
9/28/2005 1:22:06 AM
yeah.. HPDE is not a race. most clubs wont let you have any sort of timing device in the car.
9/28/2005 1:25:49 AM
if you are 3 or higher, they might let the timing devices slide (i think they let you in 4,not sure).but it gets competetive as hell in 3 and 4.level 3/4 is as close as you are gonna get to racing without passing whenever you want.
9/28/2005 2:00:01 AM
You're saying if I went up to the HPDE chairman of oh I don'tknow, NASA? about two of the participants in their HPDE are not only timing each other, but are "racing", presumably for a reward, things would be kosher? I think not. Not that I ever would, nor do I think you'd take this guy up. Ofcourse that's IF the said person would actually be a willing participant in all of this. Lots of assumptions there...Besides, don't kid yourself, timing would be allowed simply to evaluate your own driving. Officially, competitive driving at an HPDE is NOT ok. And again, you know it's not racing, there's no points system, there's no class regulation, there's no prise at an HPDE. I know that you know it's not racing. Why don't you just do a time trial?Ahmet
9/28/2005 6:21:30 AM
I got a crazy idea, whats say we settle this on the runway?
9/28/2005 8:22:21 AM
i know its not "ok" to time yourself and race.but most advance drivers i have seen have lap timers in their cars. yes, they would def say something to a beginner driver. but as you get higher in the ranks. some tend not to say much. like you said, its for "evaluation"i havnt seen a time trials event yet. most are "coming soon".i know nasa has one, but there hasnt been one at an event ive attended.that would be a better alternative. but the problem is when.
9/28/2005 9:37:55 AM
tarheel does time trials with their HPDEsand you can "time" yourself if you run video and use a stopwatch when reviewing the tape.
9/28/2005 9:49:09 AM
you clowns should come to VIR-full nov. 15th. (audi club)
9/28/2005 9:52:52 AM
he's got trophies OOOOOHHHHHH
9/28/2005 10:26:41 AM
^^ thats like $420 or so last time i checked. entrance fee and membership.^^^ i totally forgot bout tarheel. i just check trackschedule.com for events. [Edited on September 28, 2005 at 12:27 PM. Reason : ]

Baonest why would you even want to try your going to get stomped. It wont even be competitive for the 7 guy.
9/28/2005 4:33:20 PM
because its about the driver's skills, not the car
9/28/2005 4:34:28 PM
my mother could beat baonest in a three-rotor FD
9/28/2005 4:37:38 PM
all of the events i've been to with NASA always had time trials run with group 3. so you could have a timing device in your car in group 3. go for it, i think it would be pretty funny.
9/28/2005 4:51:15 PM
hmm, well maybe that was why people were allowed timers. i kept wondering why i couldnt find info on time trials.i checked up on thscc website. looks like they do quite a bit more time trial events.
9/28/2005 4:56:54 PM
NASA does not run time trials with Group 3, or any other group. A transponder MAY be allowed (but I don't think that is their official policy), but certainly not "Time Trial". To run in time trials you need safety equipment (at least a bar+harnesses, fire extinguisher, possibly cut off switch), a time trial license, etcetera with any established club. This is all from memory, but if nothing else, time trials are NOT run with any other run group and I don't think NASA commonly runs them. They haven't at any of the events I've been to...Ahmet
9/28/2005 6:10:23 PM
pardon my ignorance.but whats the big deal about putting a stopwatch in your car?
9/28/2005 6:20:43 PM
HPDE (the last two letters standing for Drivers Education) is not supposed to be competition event. Anytime timing's involved (well technically a points or ranking system), it becomes "competitive". There's a different set of rules governing the nature of insurance for such events, both for the club and the individual. Also, competition makes people push themselves further, and most people there (myself included) are there to explore the limits of their car to their comfort. They(/we) do not go there to go as fast as possible. As such I want people around me to leave a certain amount of speed/pride on the table. I can't afford to replace or fix the body damage on my car every time I go there. If I were driving in competition, you can bet my lines/techniques would be pretty different. I hope to start doing that at some point too, but again not around people who're out to have a good time and "learn", but around people who are trying to prove that they have a bigger pair than I do, people who want to be infront of me as bad as I want to be infront of them. Isn't that who you'd rather race anyway? I don't go revving my engine to my middle school math teacher for a reason...Ahmet

In October he should be bringing the FD to one of the club meets we have up at Chargrill in north raleigh. Since it seems like there are people who are actually serious about getting on a track with him, maybe it would be best if you came to a meet and talked to him about it. I don't know if it would be a good idea to PM him and be like "this man from the intarweb who says 'nigger' alot would like to run you on a race track"

its a 3 rotor FD, for all that is holy!1better make it at least 2 laps so you can see him more than once before its over [Edited on September 29, 2005 at 3:53 AM. Reason : itd be a race if the shit were bone stock shits going to treat you to your own personal holocaust]
9/29/2005 3:52:39 AM
itd be $384 to join Audi Club and go to VIR.. still not cheap though. it'll probably be my last audi club event cuz their prices keep going up. ($340 event, $44 membership)

9/29/2005 11:46:31 AM
I think he said he's got a little bit of a heat issue because of the front mount, so there's only x amount of laps it can really run. I don't know what that number is.
9/29/2005 2:40:24 PM
all im saying is that im down for a little friendly competition. i pretty much know the outcome. if he is an avid tracker, then yeah most likely if he knows his car then he will romp me. 530HP with all that track experience isnt much of a joke. specially when comparing it to a driver with less than 200HP.things like this mainly come down to the driver, but when you've got equal drivers, or just about equal, then the car will play a major roll. same thing happened at roebling road. a twin turbo 350Z was there. pushing like 400 something HP. guy couldnt do much except for on the strait aways. i was running him in a SCd S2000.his friend took the car out (guy was an instructor) and just ran it to the ground. makes a big difference if you arent scared and you know your car.
