they could have saved a lot of time/money and just showed us the British version. And it would have been funnier.

^^ No it wouldnt, because they would hack it to hell to fit in commercials (remember those episodes are actually 30 minutes long rather than 22). Besides, a lot of people wouldnt be able to understand the dialogue with the accents...it wouldnt last 2 weeks.Steve Carrell is no Ricky Gervais, but the US version is still a pretty good show, probably one of the better comedies on television. Tonights episode was probably the best of the 8 so far too.

I think the last episode (the dundies) was on par with the british one, while providing new content. I'm quite happy to be an enthusiast of both the BBC and NBC versions.
9/27/2005 11:50:28 PM
"there were these two twins... and we told them we were brothers... it was awesome, he slept with both of them."" 'are you a William Hung fan?''no! why do people keep asking me that?' "
9/27/2005 11:59:23 PM
I missed season 1 of this show (i saw the pilot) so Im just catch up with it on DVD. I still cant imagine comparing it to the original british show.
9/28/2005 12:15:33 AM
i think they're both good. the british just has slower pacing. longer pauses. thus its more awkward.
9/28/2005 12:22:42 AM
great ep
9/28/2005 5:10:08 AM
I've seen the US version once, and I was entirely unimpressed. Steve Carrell is funny and all... but not in this role.
9/28/2005 7:38:45 AM
Last night was one of the funniest I have seen. Carrel is perfect for this role.
9/28/2005 8:10:58 AM
THATS WHAT SHE SAID
9/28/2005 9:09:23 AM
where is the clitoris? on a web site, it said it was at the crest of the labia. What does that mean??
9/29/2005 3:23:19 AM
I like how they don't even bother to explain the dramatic weight loss Steve Carrell had between Seasons 1 & 2
9/29/2005 4:02:48 AM
wasnt that dramatic, i didnt even notice.
9/29/2005 8:29:46 AM
he hasnt lost weightwtf are you talking about?
9/29/2005 8:31:00 AM
im the forward king, i dont come up with it, i just forward it
9/29/2005 9:14:42 AM
if you only use season 1 to asses the US version of the office, check out season 2so far, it's been comedy gold
9/29/2005 12:05:09 PM
Carrell did lose weight, and they also gave him more hair. Now there's also an elevator to get to the shipping department. Shows usually make a lot of changes between seasons 1 and 2.
9/29/2005 12:23:02 PM
yes hes got more hairnot sure how that happened....i think it was added for the 40 year old virgin movieit looks really natural...im not sure how they did it, plugs take time to root, plus it looks to good to be a piece
9/29/2005 1:22:22 PM
i think the hair last year was fake.
9/29/2005 2:34:24 PM

Good to hear, although it makes you wonder how long we are going to have to wait for Scrubs to get a slot .
9/29/2005 10:31:36 PM
HOW THE FUCK IS SCRUBS NOT ON TV?
9/29/2005 10:34:21 PM
Several reasons...its ratings are average, and its actually a Buena Vista production...so theres not as much benefit from promoting it like there is for a show like Will and Grace. On top of that, NBC knows that Scrubs fans are hardcore...thats been proven time and again whenever the show has moved time slots...we always follow. Its scheduled as a "mid-season" replacement, so once some show gets cancelled, you will probably start seeing promos for it...would be nice if they could add it to Tuesday nights...90 minutes of non-laughtrack comedy.
9/29/2005 10:42:21 PM
WOWthe potential is unthinkable1-camera, non-lafftrack comedyit would almost be enough for me to forget that they have two Apprentices on tv now
9/29/2005 11:15:12 PM

They did show a new episode last night, right? Office Olympics? It's not on TorrentSpy yet.... - http://torrentspy.com/directory.asp?mode=sub&id=519That's the only way I can see it here in Germany, so hopefully a tracker will be up by tonight.I just downloaded all 8 episodes for the first time last week and Ive watched each of them 2-3 times. (still haven't gotten the BBC version yet. running out of room on my HDD and they're only bundled by season). but I'm a huge fan now - excellent, excellent show. A couple observations:- I too think Carell is perfect - he has great timing, expressions, body language, etc. The other characters are near perfect too. It took a while to warm up to Pam mostly because her "personal interviews" aren't entirely convincing, but the more I see, the more I think that is actually part of her character, not weak acting. But one of the things that make Carell/Michael Scott great (or his character) is that even though he is a crude, inappropriate, shallow, dick of a boss, he is actually a likable guy. The difference between, say, Michael Scott and Bill Lumburg of Office Space is that Scott actually cares about his employees (perhaps if not only because they reflect directly on him, but i'll give him the benefit of the doubt), while Lumburg is just pure evil and is only out for his own good with no respect for his workers. - The show feels like it's ad-libbed, which would lead me to believe those are some very talented actors. But according to this interview with John Krasinski (Jim) http://tinyurl.com/bcmfz , "every 'Umm,' every 'but,' every awkward pause is completely scripted,"". In that case, very good writing, and even better execution by the actors. - I keep wondering if Ryan the Temp is going to play a more prominent role. He has been in the opening credits the whole time (along with Michael, Dwight, Pam and Jim), but his roles have been really small and he doesn't contribute much. I mean Kevin and Stanley say as much as Ryan do, and they aren't in the credits. The actor, BJ Novak, is apparently one of the 9 writers and he wrote one of the top 2 episodes so far, "Diversity Day", so props to him there at least. A couple questions about Ryan though - is he supposed to be jewish and gay? I got the feeling he is supposed to be Jewish when Michael did the Hiltler joke in the first episode, then his little interview after he got his Dundie made me wonder if he was gay.
10/5/2005 4:12:53 AM
do you have a man crush on Ryan or what?
10/5/2005 9:06:57 AM
