Is there any feature on the ipod that lets you browse your songs using a tree (a la windows explorer) without using id3 tags?

The songs should show up like they do in iTunes.

Well the problem is that I have a bunch of albums that have guest features so even if I have an eminem album one particular song will have the artists as "Eminem ft. Dr Dre" while another song on the same album will have an artists sayin "Eminem". I end up having like 10 different artist names even though it really is just Eminem. Thats why i hate id3 tags/itunes

yeah, that sucks. I try to just put the "featuring" part in the song title. Tedious, but it gets the job done.

That happens because of the Gracenote CDDB entries being very specific (not a huge problem). You can edit the ID3 tags to make them match by using a freeware/shareware tool (there are many) orIn iTunes, sort by Album, then change one of the artist tags to just "Eminem", copy that text and paste it for the artist tag for anything on that album that doesn't match. When you sync the iPod it will have the updated tags that match.

Or, just select all the songs at the same time and edit them together.Apple + I on a mac (should be able to right-click it too) -- Mass edit.

i'm very picky about how i organize my music and if there are multiple artists i just put (Feat. so and so) in the Title.....however i have not found a solution for what to do with Various Artists cds and soundtracks and i'll end up with about 30-50 artists with only one song listing, which still irritates me[Edited on September 20, 2005 at 8:53 PM.
