So in Metal Gear Solid 2, did Snake actually die on board that tanker in the beginning? How did he come back? I've always had a hard time figuring that out, even though I did finish the game.Thanks.

abomination before Godthis game

1. He didn't die.2. The game wasn't a VR mission. Snake's chapter happened and was real. Raiden's chapter was simulated, but it was a live-fire exercise in the real world—the only thing "virtual" about it was the context, the lies he had been fed about who he was and what he was doing.3. Woodfoot is officially off the fucking Gold Star list for this. Third strike.

Snake survived by climbing onto a fleeing Metal Gear Rex before it left the ocean correct?
9/20/2005 3:17:23 PM
so, Snake survived? AND THE GAME WAS A VR MISSION?THESE GAMES ARE ALWAYS HARD TO FIGURE OUT.I LIKED MG3 MUCH BETTER.
9/20/2005 3:31:04 PM
Yes, Snake survived by hitching onto the Rex prototype as it fled the ship. No, the game was not a VR mission...at least not in the sense you're thinking. The implication of the narrative is that Raiden was trained as a child to be a completely malleable, utterly controllable puppet soldier who could be trusted to act on whatever (dis)information he was fed—and that the same thing was effectively being done to you, the player, by the game. You are Raiden. It's supposed to be a mindfuck, but it loses the impact if you miss out on that message.

METAL GEAR SOLID 1 VS. METAL GEAR SOLID 2--WHICH WAS BETTER?
9/20/2005 4:06:34 PM
I think MGS2 stands head and shoulders above MGS1, personally, story and all.
9/20/2005 4:07:22 PM
Yeah, I mean...in MGS2 you can take pictures of birds

snake eater pwns allexcept for the final battle which just got so preposterous I threw down my controller in disgusti'm sorry but going from stealth assasin mode to motorcycle battle against mega-man transformer is just not a happy leap of logic
9/20/2005 4:15:33 PM
SPOILER ALERTThat entire sequence, from the initial chase to the last battle with Volgin, kept my fucking jaw dropped the entire time (except for sneaking through the jungle with Eva's famished ass).
9/20/2005 4:17:14 PM
yeahi loved like 90% of the game actually froshbut, and this is a rather important but, i felt that the game owed me more than what it delivered at the endi mean, its no bionic commando, i'll certainly say that
9/20/2005 4:19:21 PM
I put to you, sir, three suppositions:1. You weren't paying attention.2. You weren't familiar with the other games in the series.3. You fucked up and put "SOLID SNAKE" or something on your dog tag in the beginning and unwittingly made the ending very, very confusing.
9/20/2005 4:20:49 PM
well i think we all know that Kratos would eat Snake as a midnight snack

9/20/2005 5:14:19 PM
yepaside from that last Volgin boss fight which was drawn the fuck out, the game was the shitplus, if you saved when Volgin had you in the torture room, there was this ill ass minigame with a dude with swords that turned into a wolf and all that jazz
