i'm thinking about buying a wetsuit for SCUBA and jetski use. i don't want to go out on a jetski when it's really nasty cold or anything, but it would be cool to get one to extend the riding season a little.

what's the best thickness to get? 6mm full suit? what about a 3mm full with a 6mm (or maybe less) shorty or farmer john underneath? that way i wouldn't have to buy two full suits for warm/cold weather use (SCUBA...obviously i'm not gonna wear a wetsuit to jet ski if it's warm).

i believe mine is 3mm. i frequently ride well into november and as early as march. i'm sort of a freak though, i'll go swimming in the ocean in the middle of january with just a swimsuit and not be bothered. it's the wind that gets you on a ski.

well if you are going scuba diving, you are gonna need one that is thicker then one just for snorkling or the jet ski... unless you plan on sucba diving in real warm waters you are gonna have to buy 2 suits or sweat your balls off in a scuba suit while jet skiing

Your best bet is a 3/2 suit. Like Ivan, I used one starting in March and into November. IF you find the need for booties, check out okespor.

Much colder and you will want a 5/4 semi-dry suit with welded/taped seams. That is all I would use with conditions like this http://www.johnallenanderson.com/windsurf/northend_ocracoke/1_15_05/index.html I would think you would go skiing on a nicer day than that.

I never really found a use for shorties. I would rather just wear some baggies and a 1 or 2mm SS or LS rashgard and transition straight to a 3/2 SS suit.

Then agian all I have is windsurfing/sufing/skiing experiance and don't now shit about SCUBA.
