How do we get this legislation passed? I'd rather sit near a smoker than a screaming child. The only restaurants children should be allowed in are the ones that give out cheap, plastic toys, and/or have playgrounds.

Shut up you red-state womb colonizer! Go eat a placenta for dinner!

Here's a recipe!

Quote :
"Placenta Recipes (Mothering Magazine, September 1983, Vol. 28, pg 76)

Each placenta weighs approximately 1/6 of the baby's weight. Cut the meat away from the membranes with a sharp knife. Discard the membranes.

Placenta Cocktail:
1/4 cup raw placenta
8oz V-8 juice
2 ice cubes
1/2 cup carrot.
Blend at high speed for 10 seconds

Placenta Lasagne:
Use your favorite Lasagne recipe and substitute this mixture for one layer of cheese. In 2 tbl. olive oil, quickly saute meat of 3/4 placenta, ground or minced; plus 2 sliced cloves of garlic, 1/2 tsp. oregano, 1/2 diced onion & 2 tbl. tomato paste, or 1 whole tomato."

No no no . . . . . you have it all wrong. The trick is not to ban them from restaurants, but to establish new restaurants just for children and smokers.

They will be seperate, but equal.

They should only ban the screaming kids. You know, the ones that are so spoiled that their parents don't even try to control their tantrums. When I take my son in restaurants, he behaves, so I gotta disagree with you on all kids. He never throws tantrums in the restaurant or screams or yells. He's 1 and acts better than lots of the 2,3,4,and 5 year olds. So, ban the screaming kids.

(cue the "OH MY GOD YOU'RE 20 AND HAVE A KID!!!!111" comments)

Don't get mad at all parents with kids. There are good parents who, if their child becomes unruly, will take them outside or calm them down to deal with them. THen there are the ones who don't care and just let their kids scream and throw things.

if you can't afford to go to the restaurants where people don't bring their kids

you don't deserve to be in a child-free restaurant

my parents took me and my brother out of the restaurant if we ever misbehaved in the slightest, we would never have been allowed to scream in a restaurant

we also got beatings, which i think is frowned upon now, but it'll learn you quick

are restaurants allowed to do anything about loud screaming children?? I mean, I've never seen one do shit, but is there anything legally against them doing something about it?

oh well, a good ass bruising or two would [for the most part] solve any real reason to even need to think about this law...there is no quicker way to get thru to some little hellions

Nothing ruins a meal more than a screaming kid off somewhere.

That being said, most of the time the 20+ per plate resteraunts don't have many kids. If they have a kids menu, stay the fuck away.

haha, when I worked at a **PUB/BAR** some lady yelled at my manager because there weren't changing tables in the bathrooms and she was really upset our mac'n'cheese was made with real cheese, not the fake kraft stuff ("kids like kraft," she said). we always had people come in with their kids and get drunk and smoke and let the kids run around the bar. i mean, really, what kind of parents do that? a lot, apparently.

When I was a kid, my mom simply shut me up with "Do you want me to take you OUTSIDE?! You KNOW what happens OUTSIDE!" or "If you don't behave yourself, we will leave right this instant and I will take you to your grandfather and he will take you outside with his belt. Do you want that?! Ok then settle down."

Worked like a charm

i know a couple times that i should have gotten the shit beat out of me and didn't that i just chewed myself up over it

whereas when you get a beating you just take all that punishment with your ass and then you don't dwell on it

you know how they automatically add 7% gratuity to large parties?

they should make it 10% if you have kids

it's automatically more work for the server before, during, and after the meal

Don't ban them just group them together like smokers.

My fiance and I have discussed this before

Welcome to Chili's smoking or non?
Children or not?

so you have 4 quadrants

smoking, kids
smoking, no kids
non smoking, kids
non smoking, non kids

now, the people who smoke and have kids are going to be the most tolerant and won't give a fuck who is around them, but the smokers with no kids won't want to sit near kids and the parents will freak out about the second hand smoke and the people who don't smoke and don't have kids are just going to be uppity bastards

children in the basement, smokers outside

I think obnoxious drunks who come try to sit at your table uninvited and talk to you and your kid are 10x more annoying than kids screaming.

Though, kids screaming is highly obnoxious, and if my son screams at a restaurant, his little butt is gonna go outside, to the car or to the restroom real quick.

But yeah. If you don't want to be near children, go somewhere where children aren't allowed, or.. stay home. Cause if my kid's allowed, and i wanna take him, i damn sure will. Have a nice day.

Edit:: And I think sitting near obnoxius stuck up assholes is at least 5x as annoying as screaming kids.

How do you go to a restaurant and have an "obnoxius stuck up asshole" sit next to you. Are you dining at the cafeteria?

Honestly, go somewhere expensive and that doesn't happen. If you're at Pizza Hut you better expect it.

Oh, in addition to skewfield's comments, I honestly don't know what you can do to shut a kid up these days, either bribe them or threaten to take something away when you get home I guess. When I was little I could pretty much expect my ass to get spanked off by my father if I was even a little bit unladylike.

It's all about parenting - if the parents suck at their job (of parenting), their kid will be a holy terror

That said, even my infant (8 mos) is better behaved than some school-aged kids. My 2-yo says please and thank you and she knows bad stuff happens if she acts up when we're out.

It makes total sense for really upscale restaurants to not allow parents to bring in children under 13. Dont need to be feeding your toddlers Ruths Chris.

God, I went to Chili's last night and happened to get seated next to a couple who had not one but THREE young children, two of whom were continuously screaming.

People who have loud children should be asked to leave the restaurant until they can get their kids under control. I can agree that if I had ever screamed and made a scene in public when I was younger, my bottom would have been worn out in a heart beat, and now I'm pretty glad that my mother did that.
