Last summer, I got in my first accident. I hydroplaned going about 45 down the highway and I was able to save it enough so I didn't go off a bank and ended up just tapping the trunk and rear bumper on a dirt bank. Damage was a little over $1500 for a new trunk, body work, paint, new bumper, moulding, etc. No property damage occured and my ticket was dropped, so I thought it was over.So I get a letter from my insurance company last week saying that they are cancelling my policy because I am a risky driver. I've been driving for almost 6 years, I got a speeding ticket in 2001 for 70/55 that was lowered to 64/55.Does this sound right? They said they could insure me, but it would cost nearly $1100 every 6-months. I was paying about $480 every 6/months for full coverage.

call the insurance commissioner's office RIGHT NOW.This is shady shit the insurance companies pull.State Farm tried to cancel my family's policy after ONE claim after my parents had been customers of State Farm for over 30 years and never missed a bill. Carzin also had some insurance issues he had resolve via the Insurance Commissionner's office.

how many points do you have on your license? and they just called you now to say that your being dropped? Thats fucked up. were you paying 480/ 6 months after the ticket and last summer accident?^do what he saidbtw, every 1 point on your insurance should increase your insurance from base price by an increase of about 30%, so by that, they are increasing your rate as if you had 4-5 points on your drivers license[Edited on September 9, 2005 at 4:25 PM. Reason : .]

i would call your agent as well, my dad has had several issues with our insurance resolved by simply talking to our insurance agent who was able to get a hold of someone who could do something about it and pleading our case. if he can't take care of it, call the commish.
