That's right, ladies and gentlemen, the CIA is here and it's looking for you! What is it?The CIA, or Comedic Improvization Alliance, is a brand new club here oncampus. If you are interested in improv, drama, making friends, or havingfun, than you should check it out! When does it meet? The first meeting is this Tuesday, September 13th at 7 PM. All meetings,in fact, will be on Tuesdays at 7.Where are the meetings? The first meeting is in Daniels 429.Most importantly, why should you attend? The CIA's goals include building friendships, learning some improv, anddoing plenty of other great things while we're at it. Plans are in theworks for improv workshops featuring other professional players, freeshows and performance opportunities, possible improv festivals, andcampus-wide prank-like activities (AKA guerrilla improv-check outhttp://www.improveverywhere.com to see what I mean). Plus, three of our officerswork and perform professionally at Comedyworx. All in all, if all of this sounds great (not to mention it's all free),come to the first meeting and also get some free pizza. Thanks!Just to add a little bit to this, there will be no auditions because we believe that Improv is something that everyone can learn, and anyone who wants to be involved should be able to. Also, we are supported by ComedyWorx, Raleigh's first and only Improvisational comedy club, that's been around since 1989. We'll have performance space there as well as different places in the city, and other festivals around the state and country. So if you're interested, come by Daniels 429 next Tuesday at 7 for our interest meeting and see what we're all about. If anyone has any questions, feel free to post them or give me a PM.

Despite your rolly eyes, I know you think it's cool anyway. And hey, if you really want to prove that you're more creative than us, show up tonight at 7 in Daniels 429 to find out how you can be involved in student improv.

Daniels 429? out of all the places on campus you had to pick one of the worst rooms EVER to hold your meeting in?
9/13/2005 3:49:01 PM
yes yes improv is cool and more people on campus need to be involved in it. but if you call yourselves cia, then when you do guerrilla improv, you better have like, secret agent names or something. actually...Ignore me, I just woke up and incoherent.

PM UberComedian. He's not funny, but maybe you can get him on stage and kick him in the nuts or something.

Well, us picking a room really didn't have much to do with it. We were stuck with it, rather. But this is just an interest meeting and all that, we'll find another room soon. I'm trying to get the Bragaw Activity Room but they act like that's precious gold. Hopefully things will work out.

Tonight's meeting went very well. All told we had 17 interested members and got in some basic improv exercises. I encourage anyone else who is interested to come by and learn the art of improv and have a hell of a lot of fun. We should be meeting at 6:30 at the same place, Daniels 429.And to the person who was talking smack about the room, it was a great room. Plenty of seating and a raised portion that passed as a decent stage. So come out and join the CIA.

BTTTWe're meeting tonight again at 6:30 in Daniels 429. If you're at all interested in Improv at NC State come by, we'll be doing some basic skills workshops, then probably go down to Hillsborough afterwards.
