This is an awfully n00bish problem, but here goes.I have an existing network at work with a workgroup called Mt-dom. I need access to the shared files on the computer Mt-nc-cary, the company's fileserver. On the existing computers, this folder is already set up in the network places. On this computer, it says "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another."Furthermore, I cannot see any other computers on the workgroup Mt-dom.Any ideas? As far as it knows, it requires a login and password, which I have, but this computer never asks for it.]

I just checked. The existing computers can see that I'm in the workgroup, but I still can't access it.

try this:StartRun\\Mt-nc-cary\see if that works to open it up...also if you have a shared drive on that server, say for example called Shared.HDD, then try this from the Start Run:\\Mt-nc-cary\Shared.HDD\also you can try this from the cmd lineping \\Mt-nc-cary\i dont know what the issue is but if its a naming issue it could be a pain, sorting through the different DNS, DCHP, WINS, etc settings]

go get your network admin to set you up. He can probably do it in 2 minutes.
