Work's buying me one. Any models you recommend? Any to avoid like the plague?

what line of work are you in?

IT, server admin, etc etc. Basically they want me to have a phone and the one they gave me is huge. They already have a business contract with Nextel so adding a new phone isn't a problem.

so size is an important thing, what about battery life?

Get the most freaking expensive Nextel color phone you can buy. That'll be the best.

I'm more concerned with the functionality. Almost all new phones use lithium ion batteries which have 48 hours standby and 2 hour talk minimum. I need to be able to see who's alerting me on the network so preferable a caller ID screen on the outside. All the "good" phones I've seen are the flips. Luckily I'm not on call so it's only at work.

the i830 and i860 will not make it 48 hoursand i know people who had problems with the i730 (although there are also people who loved it)[Edited on September 5, 2005 at 11:20 PM. Reason : .]
