I started my car yesterday, and a few things immediately came to my attention.1. My Tach, Spedometer, Odometer, and coolant temp guages were not functioning.2. My Shift lock would not release when the brake is pressed. Have to do it manually now.3. My sunroof will not open.4. My car will not shift into 4th gear when driving.I have checked a couple fuses, but not all of them. I am obviously going to do that. Any other ideas from all you knowledgable people out there?

is you car auto? if so is it electronic overdrive?

definitely check all the fuses, sounds like it thats it, its a major one. if the shift interlock dosent work, check your brake lights. if they dont work either you know why.[Edited on September 1, 2005 at 3:59 PM. Reason : 1st things 1st]

this all happened at once? that'll help alot in diagnosing anything.

yeah, all at once

i can say that number 1 and 4 have something to do with each other. in the aerosperm, the whole gauge cluster (but my gas guage and temp worked) and my electronic overdrive were shot. i knew it had to be a fuse or something. but i donated the car before i could look into it. check wiring, maybe you are arching on something, check grounds. the shift lock is also electronic. so perhaps all that has to do with one, or maybe couple fuses, or relays.

short inside your battery will make all sorts of shit go crazy. but usually results in your car running like crap as well.

^ I think the battery is brand new

My honda did all that tuesday. The alternator died on the highway though, and the battery was down to about 7 volts when I was having those problems.

i dont know what you were thinking either, making a thread before checking the fuses tsk tski remember when the moderator did the same thing when his fog lights went out

With all the shit on my car getting clusterfucked at once, I figured I would have every option first, and fix it in one go.

i know, i have done it too. usually on vehicle-specific forums though. id rather ask someone with previous experence in the matter than wasting 4 hours bumping my head into a wall for 4 hours.its like using google to find out about things you dont already know, you respect the knowledge enough to go there first for help.
