I figured we needed another hurricane related thread but seriously...

Who here works for a company that will match their charitable contributions? Mine will, and offered $2 for every $1 contributed by employees in a three-week span after the tsunami last year.

my company only matches 33% on our 401K plan.

But my yield since January has been 25%. We have a pretty strong stock.

Raytheon sent out an email about their millions of contributions, but said nothing about matching our personal contributions. BUT we can make payroll-deducted contributions.

I love that RHD matches $1 for $1. I think they cap it at $1-2k for regular charities and $5k for colleges & universities.

The $2 for $1 was a special thing for the tsunami, but I wonder if they might do it again for Katrina.

Northrop Grumman has a number of shipyards in the gulf region (namely Pascagoula and Avondale) that are big customers of ours. I'm sure they'll be spending $10's of millions to get those yards operational again.

In the mean time I'm trying to organize a drive at my work for food, clothes, and supplies to contribute to Uday and Greg's drive.

I work for the us navy, and do a lot of work with both those planning yards

we have a office located in pascagoula and still have not heard from all our employees there

my employer doesn't even match anything for a 401 K, I can't expect them to match a dollar for hurricane relief. They did set up a fund to donate through the American Red Cross, so I gave them 10 bucks.

1:1 for any of 7 recommended charities up to $100,000 total (we have ~2,000 employees)

charitable contributions is different than 401k people

actually it does, right on the intranet page about the relief:
