if anyone out there is looking for a death metal-style vocalist to jam or even record with, let me know. i'll record some samples soon so you can get a preview...i've never actually sung for a band, but i've got a pretty decent growl that i've been told (and i'd have to agree ) is easily band-worthy. i'm a drummer and i also play a little guitar, but unfortunately i can't drum and sing at the same time...and it'll take some practice with the guitar, so for right now i'll be vocals-only.

also, if anyone out there is looking for someone to jam with, i've got my drumset in my apartment as well as my amp.. so if you've been itching to jam or cant find anyone to play with, hit me up and we'll make some noise (however, if you come in and ask me "what songs do you know?" i'll kick you out right then and there...jam = improv, not green day)

you need to learn to play and sing, its also a lot more than "growling" to be a singer, maybe you could back-up someone that can actually sing while drumming.

yeah i know it's more than just growling, that was just a word i used to indicate the style

some of my influences include Peter Tagtgren and Mikael Akerfeldt, though I don't have Peter's high range or Mike's clean skill. I can sing a little in a clean voice, but nothing too impressive...it'd be more of an accent to the death-style

and yeah i'm definitely working on playing and singing...it'll come a lot easier for guitar than it will for drums which is somewhat unfortunate because i'm a much better drummer than guitarist...i could easily be a rhythm guitarist for the band but like i said i still need to work on doing both at the same time

what i was saying though is that for right now, don't expect anything more than vocals until i can get better at doing both. ideally i'd love to drum and sing, but that's just not gonna work too well live...especially because i'm pretty active when i'm singing and i don't want to be tied down to my throne; i'm all about some crowd interaction

Meh I want to start a band, but all I have right now is a bass player (me) and a rythm guitar player who doesn't want a growling/screaming vocalist.

we're actually trying to get a band started up to do some recording and eventually some gigging. my buddy is a great guitar and bass player, and i believe (though he's an incredible guitar player) he might stick to bass if he had to choose his "main" instrument. for recording it's all good, we'll all probably do a little of everything...mainly talking about live duties here. until we start playing live or we find a good drummer, i'd be doing the drumming and the death metal-style vocals. for live shows if i decide to sing we'd need a drummer and a lead guitarist as i'd probably do vox and some rhythm guitar. if that lead player could also sing (clean style), that would be great.

as far as the style of music we want to play, we're definitely not limiting ourselves to metal...we want to be a progressive band and incorporate several influences and genres. we typically play anything from metal and hard rock to jazz to funk to atmospheric rock and any combination thereof. my friend is also a classical/flamenco guitar player and we'll be capitalizing on that as well...

anyway, i'm kindof just rambling as i'm thinking right now but if any of the above sounds like something you'd be interested in or you think you could fill a spot we need, let me know
