I just bought two. The maxima's died two weeks ago, and the GTI's died last weekThe Maxima got a red top, and the GTI got a Yellow top Optima
8/27/2005 4:55:23 PM
why did you waste money on an optima?
8/27/2005 6:24:25 PM
yeah. should have gotten lawnmower batteries for WEIGHT SAVING POWAR!!!!!!!!111
8/27/2005 6:37:30 PM
the red was only $30 more than a regular batter, and the yellow was only $60 more. I figured it was a wise investment. I like the gel cell over liquid acid.
8/27/2005 6:50:32 PM
you could have kept that $90 in your pocket 'cause those batteries don't last longer than a normal battery. they are only better if you buy them for the cause they are intended.[Edited on August 27, 2005 at 7:03 PM. Reason : 90]
8/27/2005 7:02:36 PM
well if he's makin bling bling, 90 bucks is pocket change
8/27/2005 7:11:46 PM
what are they intended for beyond starting a car?
8/27/2005 7:14:47 PM
they are more vibration resistant (for use in an off-road vehicle) and can mount in any position so unless it's going in an off-road buggy or mount the battery upside down, it's a waste of money.optima claims they last longer but the people i know who have owned them say differently along with the people at Batteries Plus who sell them (ain't that a kicker).you'll also see the deep-cycle blue top a lot in car audio installations so they can play the stereo with the car not running since a deep-cycle battery is able to withstand discharge/recharges better.
8/27/2005 7:33:16 PM
I thought yellow top was the car audio battery
8/27/2005 7:34:55 PM
yeah the website says the blue tops are for starting only.
8/27/2005 7:37:54 PM
maybe the guys down at batteries plus misled him!!!
8/27/2005 7:40:55 PM
yellow is deep cycle
8/27/2005 9:13:48 PM
underPSI is always down at batteries plus cause his wife loves her vibrator
8/27/2005 9:16:57 PM
Blue is also deep cycle, but it's a marine deep cycle designed to do double duty: crank and continuous discharge.
8/27/2005 11:21:04 PM
correct sah
8/27/2005 11:56:34 PM
The yellow top is for my stereo, and the maxima gets obused, so I got the red top. Also, that battety is going to be in the maxima's trunk, not the engine compartment.
8/28/2005 11:02:57 AM
using the yellowtop for ur stereo voids the warranty btw
8/28/2005 11:32:30 AM
was July assault month?
8/28/2005 11:39:12 AM
8/28/2005 11:50:32 AM
well it definitely wasnt funny joke month
8/28/2005 9:50:26 PM
8/28/2005 10:02:32 PM
Voids the warranty on the battery, or the stereo, or the car?If you make a statement like that you need to be more specific.
8/28/2005 10:05:02 PM
have have proof
8/28/2005 10:09:30 PM
^? WTF did you say?
8/28/2005 10:35:12 PM
Well obviously it isn't going to void the warranty on the stereo.
8/28/2005 10:49:38 PM
Quit ruining my trick. If he answered with stereo, I could have completely ignored him, even though he seems to know his stuff usually.
8/28/2005 11:22:23 PM
fuckin batteries.
8/29/2005 4:57:33 PM
^where the hell have you been?
8/29/2005 5:43:38 PM
Alright, my battery has died a couple of times within the past two weeks. I keep getting it recharged and i drive it for about 3 or 4 days and it dies again. Is this from the heat or do i just have a bad alternator. IF it's the alternator, how long does that normally take to get replaced. I need my car fixed by next thursday to make it back home to my dads wedding
8/29/2005 7:47:24 PM
you most likely have a short that is discharging the battery somewhere
8/29/2005 7:48:26 PM
does that mean i have a bad alternator?...sorry i'm terrible with cars
8/29/2005 7:52:21 PM
go get free alternator test at advance/autozone
8/29/2005 8:16:42 PM
I ve had my red top for 8 years and it has never let me down. Ive drained it dead several times and it has always come right back. Its a good investment if you plan on keeping a vehicle for a while.
8/29/2005 8:21:14 PM
Everstart Maxx holler
8/29/2005 8:23:39 PM

Anybody use really small car batteries or lawnmower/motorcycle batteries? I wouldn't mind saving 20-30lbs. I don't listen to my stereo w/out the engine running...Ahmet
