Ok, I just ordered zd8000 series laptop from HP to replace my current aging zt1150specs:P4 650 (3.4GHz)1GB DDR2 (533MHz)100GB HDLightScribe 8x DVD+/-RW&CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer256MB ATI Mobility Radeon X600Wireless B/G & Bluetooth17.0" WSXGA+ BrightView Wide Viewing (1680x1050)My question is in regard to the resolution. Is 1680x1050 be too much for a WVA 17" LCD? I'm thinking the text might be too small and difficult to read. There is still the option of changing the resolution to 1440x900. I have until 8-26-05 to make any adjustments.

can you not just change the resolution if you decide thats too high? are there no settings to adjust?[Edited on August 22, 2005 at 2:51 PM. Reason : i understand you are talking about the native resolution, but just change if too small]

1680x1050 is the native resolution that the lcd supports.Higher is better.you can always change it to something lower (and probably something higher as well) in windowsyou're fine.[Edited on August 22, 2005 at 2:52 PM. Reason : .]

Run the LCD at its native resolution and nothing else. You can always chance the font and icon size in window's display settings options.

^ what he saidnon-native resolutions on LCDs are never the answer, font scaling is

yeah... non native LCD resolutions = much shittier image in most cases. even for the LCD's that do non-native resolutions better, things still look much crisper in their native res.

my 15.4" is 1920 x1200 and it's ultra sharp....not too small at all.
