How do you tell what size the disk is? I need an external enclosure and need to know the size.

do you mean physical size or how much data you can fit on it?

If it's a typical hard drive then it will be 3.5".
A notebook hard drive is 2.5".

If you want to know how much data you can fit on it, you should be able to look at the label and it will tell you the model number, which you can look up on the manufacturer's website.
