I tried to set up Mail.app (Tiger 10.4.2) to read mail on my work. For some reason, it "subscribed" to my inbox _as well as every other file in my home directory_ (and there're a lot of them cuz it's a Linux and those files include .*)

Why is that happening? I see that some mail files (Sent, ...) are placed directly in my home directory. Does this make Mail.app think everything in the home directory is mail?

Mine is doing the exact same thing, using IMAP on Progress Systems servers. I tried deleting and re-adding the accounts, but it didn't help any. It works in Thunderbird and in Entourage.

Try entering an IMAP Path prefix.
