The captured video from my TV tuner produces some pretty large files. I don't mind if the initial capture is large; I have it set to fairly high quality so I have a good source to work with.

However, I'm having trouble locating free software to re-encode these files.

I've tried Windows Media Encoder, but it crashes for some reason as soon as it starts the encoding (maybe because the source files are huge, maybe not, I don't know). Any other suggestions?
