this would be my first bike. it's a 2002 kawasaki ninja 500 with 2300 miles. it is in great condition, never dropped or anything (so i'm told). i'm pretty sure i could get it for $2500. the only bad thing is it has a salvage title because it is a theft recovery.what do yall think?

way too much.

why? because of the salvage title?

you're going to drop your first bike. get something that has been dropped or laid down so you won't feel so bad when you do it yourself. also you won't be so scared to push the limits of your bike if you aren't worried about laying it down and killing the value

On the plus side, the Ninja 500 (or EX 500 for us old schoolers) is a fabulous first time bike. Easy to handle, rides really well. Not a great bike for a big person though. But if a bike has a salvage title, be damned if I'm gonna pay big bucks for it. Even if it's a theft recovery. You obviously haven't seen some of these fuckers steal these bikes and dog the shit out of them. You'll never get out of it what you put into it.Try to get it for less. Or go find another one. Don't fall in love with a potential headache.[Edited on August 13, 2005 at 10:31 PM. Reason : sunk costs]

i rode my friends 2004 R6 around a parking lot the other day and I had to make much larger turns to keep from feeling like i was going to lay it down than i expected. this was at like 10 mph. fastest i got was maybe 25 or 30. any tips to keep me from falling over in a parking lot, cause i probably will once i get my own bike.

Moparnium5 has a 500 like that, a little older though, that he was thinking about selling. I would stay away from a salvage title for that much.

a guy named GotYoNacho on this board was selling his ninja 500 a while back. I believe he still has it, but not sure if he's selling it anymore. PM him. His bike has like 3k miles on it, in perfect condition. And I think 2500 might be a bit high for that bike. One of my friends down in Wilmington picked one up for about 2 grand in good condition with low miles.

they've saved mine several times. worth their weight in gold, and worth wearing no matter how hot it is (although i'd prob just get textile stuff for a ninja 500).

wasn't that bad today to wear the leather today. Meet up with a red gs500 (i think) guy at state on dan allen. Got my bike working this weekend, cept without plastics. Getting those repaired and repainted in about a week.
