I hate using the Sun stations to read the Wolf Web, because this site loads achingly slowly under Netscape. Surely there must be some way you guys can fix this.

Frosh: I get killed on my workstations at work. Its just the shitty ASP processing and rendering in Netscape completely peg out your cpu. I've tried running the process from some heavy duty machines (Ultra80-quad processor, SunBlade 1000, Ultra250) and pretty much it pegs the CPU that it's using. Try downloading IE for Unix if you're that concerned. That's what I use for internal sites on our network since it can't get out of our proxy I still have to use Netscape externally.

i have a 486 DX2-66 laptop that I use at my girlfriends place. It runs IE 6. it takes about 30 seconds to load it, but once loaded it renders pages faster than netscape on my PIII. netscape is garbage. there is nothing about the site that should make it load slow. the TTLB (time to last byte) over a LAN is typically under 100 milliseconds for most of our pages. to resnet it is usually under 200 milliseconds.[Edited on January 29, 2002 at 4:01 PM. there is an IE on the unix stations already. I want to say, use the command "add browsers", but I am not sure since I haven't had to do this in a while.
