So i found this for a new jeep:http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=182065313&dealer_id=56283831&car_year=1997&make=JEEP&distance=100&lang=en&max_price=11000&model=WRANGLER&end_year=2006&min_price=1&certified=&address=27610&search_type=both&advanced=&start_year=1997&isp=y&cardist=12However, it's an automatic and i don't want an automatic... i love me some 5 speed... so i found a donor 5 speed out of this:http://www.jeep-classifieds.com/22392_jeep-ad.htmlI could also part out the rest of that jeep and probably make money? or enough to pay for itself..Am i missing anything?... could i pull both trannies and swap and be done with it?

just geta 5-spd jeep. save yourself the pain
8/11/2005 4:04:30 PM
You'll need a clutch too
8/11/2005 4:20:52 PM
just go with the auto.much easier.
8/11/2005 5:08:42 PM
^
8/11/2005 5:48:44 PM
^ Yeah but that'd be too easy
8/11/2005 5:49:05 PM
i have never in any of my years seen an automatic wrangler, you probably gotta special order that shit
8/12/2005 7:00:57 PM
they're out there, but they're a small percentage of jeeps...thankfully.they used to be 3 spd autos, too...i mean way up into the 90s, i think.
8/12/2005 7:17:00 PM
actually, there's a fair amount of auto tj's out there.
8/12/2005 8:08:28 PM
after years of wheelin with clutches, im tellin ya, auto is the way to go.
8/12/2005 10:43:44 PM
yeah, autos do make things much easier. i still prefer a manual though personally. with a good crawl ratio, manuals become MUCH more liveable.
8/12/2005 10:56:11 PM
^ I agreeand yes there are many auto jeep wranglers out there... trust me, i think ive found all of them...
8/13/2005 12:43:17 AM
so what is the stock wheel horsepower with an automatic? 32?
8/13/2005 1:49:12 AM
uh, maybe 5-15 less at most... jeep has actually had some venerable autos (read aw4)
8/13/2005 2:53:57 AM
yeah, aw4 is the reason im telling him go auto.ive got one to go in my cj
8/13/2005 8:50:53 AM
aw4? what's that....
8/13/2005 10:55:45 AM
I didn't think the AW4 was ever used in YJ/TJ.. was it?
8/13/2005 11:43:54 AM
oh thats right. aw4 was xj'stf999 maybe?
8/14/2005 10:07:43 PM
yeah, tf999's in YJs and i think TJs just have an evolved version of it?
8/14/2005 10:30:30 PM
An auto, ahahahahaha.... even worse it's a 3-speed!
8/14/2005 10:36:04 PM
yeah, aw4 was xj's only. i was just refering to jeep using some decent autos in general, not neccesarilly limited to tj's/yj's. aw4 is an easy swap into one though.
8/14/2005 10:42:13 PM
i am all about autos for wheelin these days. i wish there was a simple option for the re and gear cases in my whip
8/14/2005 11:40:59 PM
