Just wondering, because I suddenly realize that's a handout, which is bad, I think?

I often don't. I never have cash, and all they do is refill my water, frequently doing it too often.

Just let me take two sips out of my glass before you come fill it to overflowing again. I also like my water to be less than 98 % ice. Thx.

Oh I think it'd be much smarter to just support sterilization. MUCH more wide-spread effect, more cost-effective in the long run.

tips are not handouts. they are payments for services rendered. the best I ever tipped was about 200% (i was waiting for someone who never showed up so all i ordered was a drink; it was a slow day so the waitress stayed and talked to me). other than that i tip 25% minimum at nice places with good service, 15% at places that don't require as much service (like golden corral). i like to linger in restaurants a bit, so theres a bonus in it if they dont give me the check and forget i exist when they think im done eating.
