I've searched for this and found a lot of stuff, but nothing really that useful or up to dateI'm getting a new phone this week and want to know if a bluetooth enabled phone is worth the extra money to buy and then buy the bluetooth headset. Other then just talking hands free, what all can you transfer to your phone?

Talking hands free is the biggest benefit in my opinion. Bluetooth also allows you to easily share information with your computer (if it has bluetooth) and other bluetooth phones. What kind of information you ask! Nothing too exciting: phonebook, contact list, text messages. It's a handy thing to have, but i wouldn't shell out a lot of extra cash for it.

bluetooth is very convenient for a carpc

depends on what you will use it for. i talk on the phone pretty much all day for my work... so hands free/ wire free is great for me. especially in the car. I hated having a wired hands free set because it would get all tangled up in the seat belt and crap

if headsets are the only thing you will use it for its not worth itunless you buy a top of the line headset the sound quality is pretty crappy, even if you dont notice the person on the other end will

i disagree... i have always had pretty good quality with my bluetooth headset (got a middle of the road logitech one). only towards the end of the day does it get choppy. It supposedly has 7 hour talk time but it starts to get staticy after about 5 hours on the phone. I actually have better sound quality on this (and it is more comfotable on my head) than the $65 wired headset i was using before. It had noise cancelling, nice headphone and everything.for most people, though. to just get bluetooth for a little bit of handsfree use is not worth it. only if you are on the phone alot

Most of the companies cripple their BT phones, so you have to use their extra features (at an extra price). But there's more to be used than just having a BT headset. I have the motorola E815 from Verizon and it syncs (w/ Isync 2.1 on a Mac) via BT with my address book and calender without any modification. This is awesome because it allows me to back up all of my contacts. I also have it set up to use as a BT modem which just have to enable dialup networking (easy to do just google for directions). There's also a lot of hacking that can be done, like enablling OBEX so you can transfer files/pictures/videos/etc. over BT but that requires buying a USB cable (~$20 on ebay) and getting some software from the internet.Hope this helps.

I've used BT on the S710a frequently to transfer pictures, numbers, and MP3 files.Bluetooth is also very handy if you happen to own a luxury car as you can access the car's cellphone interface while driving.I'm also thinking about buying stereo bluetooth headphones for my latest phone to use it as portable mp3 player.
