So, got a new server in at one of the places I work, has two network connections built in...one hooked to roadrunner modem, one hooked to local network, static IP on both. Using the NAT service that's built-in to 2k3 server std edition I share the internet connection to everybody on the local network and it works fine for a while...then just randomly no one can get on the internet. Sometimes it works right for a day, somtimes 4 hours, sometimes two weeks, its definetly not a 'regular' time dependent problem. I found one article on Microsoft's tech stuff online saying you couldn't run a DHCP or DNS server on the same computer that was handling all the NAT and ICS stuff so I moved those services (dhcp and dns) to another server and that fixed it for about two days...then it was back to the same ol shit. EVERYTIME THIS HAPPENS, YOU CAN DISABLE THE NETWORK ADAPTER FOR THE LOCAL CONNECTION (on the server) AND YOU'RE THEN ABLE TO GET ONLINE FROM THE SERVER, but turn it back on and bam no internet. This has to be some kind of fuckup in what I'm doing, hopefully..I had the same problem when I had my computer at my apartment running 2k3 server when I was testing some things. I figured it was just roadrunner fucking up like usual around raleigh but evidently that's not the case, as every symptom is exactly the same.Maybe worth mentioning, all local connectivity remains unchanged and hell I can even connect to the same server thru the VPN from home with no problems, but local clients can't access the internet...Oh well, anything remotely close to some fucking hell would be great, I'm starting to get annoyed with Microsoft.
