take the carb apart, soak it in varsol or something, scrub it, then put it back together the same way you took it apart. note how the mixture and stuff is adjusted before you take it apart.

how long has it been sitting up and how old is the engine? i'm guessing pretty new since its a four-stroke.pm sent anyway without any background infothe last one i worked on was a sea-doo that supposedly had been sitting for about a year and wouldn't start, once i got into the carbs, they were full of rust and salt from being turtled in the ocean and never started, it was a mess
7/28/2005 8:28:17 PM
it's been sitting up for about 3 yearscarb was new thenplugs are new and goodI'm afraid to take that carb apart... I don't get along well with small parts
7/28/2005 8:55:31 PM

7/28/2005 10:37:47 PM

yea def. a carb problem...if it has compression and fires on starting fluid then blame the carbs, thats what i always do
7/28/2005 11:05:10 PM
3 years When I took the carb off my 4 wheeler after 2 years of sitting everything was stuck like a motherfuck.
7/28/2005 11:18:12 PM
yeah... hopefully I can get it fixedwhoever helps me fix it gets a free night of catfishing also
7/28/2005 11:18:22 PM
Dang mayn...That sounds sweet. I'd help, but I have to fuck something up once or twice before I can get it right. Good luck.

I'm pretty damn good with carbs, and I have a little bit of outboard experience too.The Honda 4-stroke outboards have been around more than 20 years; that's all Honda ever built. They never did a 2 stroke outboard. My uncle has two: a 2.5 and a 5.I presume yours has a remote tank.

^^ small carbs like that are the simplest thing in the world, all you have is a pilot jet, idle jet and main, i'd rebuild one on a bike, outboard, or 4-wheeler anyday over a quadrajet or something like that
7/28/2005 11:34:45 PM
yea the small carbs are usually simple as shit, carbs have bubble gum in them basically so rip the fockers apart....
7/28/2005 11:37:44 PM
Yeah...My 4 wheeler had to be the simplest thing I've ever seen. The floats were stuck all the way at the bottom and had to be pried upon with thine screwdriver and the jets were clogged like a toilet after things get crazy at El Rodeo.
7/28/2005 11:38:30 PM
the only thing that can be aggrevating are the slide type carbs if one of those gets stuck, it can take days of soaking to get them out without damage

WE HAVE A WINNER
7/29/2005 1:54:33 AM
dump some seafoam in there
7/29/2005 6:22:37 AM
I'll pull the carb off, but I tend to fuck carbs up for life once I take them apart
7/29/2005 9:52:53 AM
ahahah slingblade is the first thing i thought about, too, when i saw this thread
7/29/2005 11:04:32 PM
I iwsh someone would fix this motor.. mmm hmmm
8/1/2005 4:49:16 PM
i recently rebuilt my first carb evarrr (yesss) for a 4cyl inboard boat motor. the rebuild kit i ordered had all the gaskets, new springs, balls, jets, and floats and was only like $40. it also had a huge exploded diagram so you knew what you were doing. so my advice is to look for something like that
8/1/2005 4:56:05 PM
anybody around town able to work on this thing?
8/8/2005 5:41:58 PM
Yep. I'll look at it if ye want.Where you at? Where the motor at?
8/8/2005 5:43:23 PM
