Ok, old schoolers....let's bring this thing back this year.We will do this my outnumbering the po-po and preparing ourselves by regularly dosing ourselves with teargas so our tolerance to it builds and the riot police can't do much to stop us.Who's with me?
7/18/2005 5:31:33 PM
i got here for the last one that was any good, maybe not comparable to the old school shit, but still was damn fun
7/18/2005 5:33:27 PM
the last one that was any good was the best one in my opinion....lots of FDT
7/18/2005 5:36:44 PM
dude, people were coming up from florida and georgia for that last awesome brentroad.
7/18/2005 6:20:10 PM
brent road is a memory
7/19/2005 12:13:20 AM
never been to one, but i have been to halloween at ECU
7/19/2005 12:50:58 AM
^^^ yeah, it seems almost strange now that at one time brent road was a nationally recognized party spot[Edited on July 19, 2005 at 12:51 AM. Reason : ^]
7/19/2005 12:51:29 AM
i never heard of it till i came to state
7/19/2005 12:52:04 AM
me neither, but apparently other colleges knew about itplus, remember that really old stain remover laundry commercial where the guy says, "i'm here on the famous brent road," or something like that??
7/19/2005 12:55:04 AM
brent road was da bomb...that's why i think we need to revive it and take the cops by surprise
7/19/2005 1:21:40 AM
man, I heard that the brent road party was in Playboy as one of the top 5 college parties back in the daywe need to get some cars and blockade the ends of brent road and have the parties a few houses down. I know what youre thinking "the cops will just tow them and get through anyway".thats why we pool some cash, buy some junker cars, and park them like 10 deep on each end of the road. by the time that many cars get towed out of the way and the cops bring the drunk bus in, we will be ready to disperse.
7/19/2005 2:07:52 AM
^i like this ideaso who's in? we only have a few weeks
7/19/2005 2:10:34 AM
the funny thing was i was down at hi-5 last night and i was talking to one of the waitresses who lives on brent road, and she and four other homes were thinking about trying to stage a block party. i mentioned the letters NPO to her and she had no clue.i can't believe that it's already been forgotten. i let her know what would and could happen if she went through with it, and how big brent road used to be. unfortunately, until that NPO is gone, there won't ever be another brent road.
7/19/2005 5:11:42 AM
i'm in.
7/19/2005 9:07:17 AM
it would only work if you changed the weekend
7/19/2005 9:20:42 AM
i've always wondered about why they didn't just change the weekend. Surely RPD can't afford to break that party up two weekends in a row - it's got to cost $texas to have all those cops out there with their thumbs up their assOr maybe we could contact the ACLU and challenge the law. It always seemed like bullshit to me.
7/19/2005 9:27:48 AM
i never heard of brent rd when i was at ecu back in 2000
7/19/2005 9:29:17 AM
it was tried one year but the problem is getting the word out about the party w/out the cops catching on
7/19/2005 9:29:34 AM
I remember when Brent Road was on MTV.
7/19/2005 9:30:27 AM
nah, we can get the word out by mouth. we need to get some people who live on brent road in on this...i know people in six houses and can begin negotiations with them, but need more help in getting this thing organized.also, we did try to party every weekend the first year they put a buttload and a half of cops on that street and were quite successful. for three weekends in a row, about 10 cops would show up at 4:30 am with batons and pepper spray out and tell us to go home immediately....unfortunately everyone eventually quit going
7/19/2005 9:52:19 AM
2 main problems:1) The people that live on Brent Road that don't like the party, complain(ed) to the cops, and are pretty much responsible for shutting the whole thing down.2) The personal liability that home-owners would have if they managed to create a "block party" the legal way.The solutions:1) Begin a 3-year (or however long it takes) campaign to coerce the "party-pooper" home-owners to sell their homes and move away from Brent Road by any means necessary. (Disclaimer: hempster does not advocate breaking the law, except for smoking pot.) 2) Create multiple plans for a Brent Road corporation (doesn't have to be non-profit), gain support from the "new" (solution #1) home-owners, choose the best plan and incorporate. Then, the individual home-owners and renters that live on Brent Road that are members/employees of Brent Road, Inc. won't suffer from any potential personal liability lawsuits resulting from the party.p.s. I'm not sure this would really work, but hey, I'd thought it was worth a mention....
7/19/2005 10:17:56 AM
your idea is worth a try.however, we need to pull this off in about a month
7/19/2005 10:35:00 AM
somebody should form a realty company... buy up all the property on brent road... then rent it out... Brentroad corperation...pipe dream... but damn if it wouldn't be cool... I wonder though if there are enough people that are willing to throw large scale things that would be willing to live there... doubt it...throwing a large scale party involves lots of financing up front and a lot of cleanup the next day... also dealing with liabilities and much more...[Edited on July 19, 2005 at 10:39 AM. Reason : mmmmmmmm]
7/19/2005 10:39:26 AM
7/19/2005 10:46:18 AM
well you know it would def be easier to throw the brentroad party this year because that police substation is no longer nearby.
7/19/2005 2:10:41 PM
I would come back to NC from Colorado for a Brent Road party like the one in 1999.
7/19/2005 2:21:00 PM
I was there. crazy shit
7/20/2005 9:09:48 AM
i skipped that one
7/20/2005 10:15:27 AM
I'M IN
7/20/2005 11:06:37 AM
why dont we just get this "brentroad corp." to buy up all the property, tear the houses down and build a massive "brentroad arena" where you have to be a "member" to get in, and have the fucking brent road party every fucking weekend
7/20/2005 11:35:06 AM
Because then it would be too commercialized and not 'teh 1337 shit' anymore
7/20/2005 11:37:29 AM
^ahahaha, yeah, good pointbesides, it wouldn't be any fun if it didn't piss the cops off
7/20/2005 11:42:40 AM
i was here for the one in 99....i'd kinda like to leave it while it was at its peak
7/20/2005 12:17:12 PM
I agree. It would suck to try to have a comeback if it didn't turn out to be as good as 99.
7/20/2005 12:19:39 PM
but we can make it better!we be old school, ya heard?
7/20/2005 12:50:05 PM
i lived there for 3 augusts, and it just got worse and worsethe last year i lived there, i got carded while leaving the back side of brent to go to food dog... i guess to make sure i lived there or somethingthen by then time i got back (10pm) the cops were all gone. the cops won that shit, man.
7/20/2005 1:59:02 PM
I got carded at 1 pm driving down gorman before the 2001 party (if you can still call it that). They were doing sobriety tests too.
7/20/2005 2:25:36 PM
Lets just do tha damn thingOutnumbering them works wellLets do it sneak-attack style
7/20/2005 6:14:53 PM
this needs to be the #1 issue for the pirate captain.
7/20/2005 6:16:24 PM
i think this needs to be the #1 issue for us....right here, right nowlet's make this thing happen....we need a strategy
7/20/2005 6:43:09 PM
when was the last "good" one, because the one i was at in fall 2000, the police were LITERALLY standing out there shoulder to effing shoulder.
7/25/2005 4:20:47 PM
1999 was the last major blowout one
7/25/2005 4:24:54 PM
i think that they said that there were ~10,000 out there in 1999 i remember standing at the end on Gorman street and all you could see was a wall of people stretching all the way as far as you can see
7/25/2005 4:30:41 PM
this will be my last year at State, I have yet to see a true Brent Rd party which is sad cause I lived at 518 for a whole yearI will do anything possible to help put it in action
7/25/2005 4:32:02 PM
back in 99 and 2000 you could go to brent rd pretty much any night of the week and you would find at least one big party going onthen Raleigh decided it hates college kids and the NPO was born
7/25/2005 4:45:24 PM
ok, RattlerRyan is inwe need more BR residents who are in on this. then we spread the word that it's on. all BR residents that are in should signify their property in some way that we can all agree to. for example, everyone put a red bow on their mailbox.i would also strongly recommend that BR residents provide kegs, granted everyone pays to drink, and ID people who wish to enter their homes to keep the cops off their back (this doesn't mean you have to be 21 to drink, just BYOB). we need to get this out quickly and have a date ready. i will call my friends that live on BR to see who else is willing to participate.anyone else on here in? we need everyone to make this thing work
7/25/2005 5:10:32 PM
any updates, NCSU NEEDS this party
8/7/2005 11:29:07 AM
i don't know if anyone is in
8/7/2005 11:46:14 AM
its really quite simple. To stage the party you need to occupy the cops. To do this, you all need to talk to your friends who would not attend the party, and get them to call the cops and report stuff. Have someone "steal" your bike and return it the next day, ect.
8/7/2005 10:49:39 PM
I was there for '99. Got shitfaced at a friend's house nearby and walked over. It was pretty crowded, we stumbled from house to house for a while. Then me and my friend decided to go outside and the streets were so packed you couldn't walk. A bunch of girls were up on the shoulders of different guys FDTing like crazy. Then a whole group got up on top of a van and started pretty much stripping.I met a lot of people from out of state. There were some military guys who drove up from FL for the party. I don't think I slept that night, maybe fell asleep eventually after the sun came up. It was kind of a blur at that point.
