ok, why is "republican: ignorant white trash" locked... and not other threads such as"I am sick and tired of Niggers trying to dictate"???if you are going to lock/delete topics, set a standard on why you are doing so...this is a country of free speech, but if that was the case for this board then you wouldn't have to "lock" topics

probably got tired of locking every single racist thread (see: theodorus for good examples)...that and "republican: ignorant white trash" can be interpreted as a personal attack since there is a member here called republican18 (don't even think about "what if"ing about a member named Nigger27 or something like that)

we have set a standard. that thread violates our policies by being directed personally.there has been a lot more racist stuff on here lately. i'm still trying to figure that part out.

Ok first of all, the constitution and free speech does not apply to a private messageboard : you are not guaranteed free speech on a messageboard that is owned and run by individuals such as Jake and I. I did not lock the topic, but I imagine it was locked because it was a personal attack. The "I am sick and tired of Niggers trying to dictate" topic was not locked because it fit the criteria for Soap Box discussion: an opinion about an issue. Albeit it is a misguided, unpopular, and narrow opinion, but it was felt he had the right to express that opinion. Just because YOU, me, and the majority of people do not agree with the opinion does not mean we are going to censor it. Censoring an idea or opinion doesn't make it not exist. It just makes it so other people don't know it exists. You should take it as an eye opening experience that there actually are people that hold these opinions, no matter how disagreeable they are.

ok, i understand the personal attack, and i applaud you for that... and i understand the no free speech thing... i was just curious because a lot of racial slurs can be considered personal though...

But nchsref has yet to use that word in a personal attack on a particular individual. If he does, then he's over the line. But right now, its free speech. In the words of one of the Founding Fathers (can't remember who) - "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

actually, that wasn't a founding father who said that, it was some french philosopher... I want to say Voltaire but don't hold me to it.
