After reading all the threads about NetFlix, I am definitely signing up. I was planning to do the 2 movies at a time for $14.99, but it's only 3 more dollars to get 3 movies at a time. Which one should I do and why? Also, has anyone ever rented a TV series from there? Do they do it one disc at a time or send you the whole season, or what?[Edited on June 18, 2005 at 8:08 PM. I'd use 3 out...it's worth the extra dough.Sadly, all "series" or multi-disc DVDs count as each one on it's own. In other words, if a series has 6 DVDs, it'll take 2 rounds of 3-out to get 'em all.

You don't have to send them back as a group though so it shouldn't be a problem. Just watch one, send it back in the mail the next day, and you should get the next one in 3-4 days, or at least that's the way it was when I had it a few years back. Just space them out and it won't be that big a deal.

towards the end of last year when i was still in the dorm, the dvds started getting sent there and back quicker than usual it seemed so you wont have to wait all that long if you are in raleigh. but now im in asheville, so it takes a few days.

yeah, back in january there was 2-3 day turnaround, but now they come overnight
6/18/2005 9:14:28 PM
^ It's cuz they opened another turnaround location in eastern NC, if I recall correctly
6/18/2005 9:39:39 PM
Closest one is Greensboro, and it's been open for a good while now.

anyone know if they have any deals if you switch from blockbuster online? I am only paying $14.99 for 3 out and would switch if they match.
6/19/2005 4:01:04 PM
wait, hold up - you're telling me that they increased the rates? i was paying $14.99 + tax for 3-at-a-time, right?-ZiP!-
6/19/2005 4:30:14 PM
netflix is $17.99blockbuster is $14.99
6/20/2005 4:52:05 PM
ah, but its $17.99 with no tax added?-ZiP!-
6/20/2005 5:08:39 PM
nope, they add tax, its actually like 19.89 or something like that
6/20/2005 5:23:19 PM

6/20/2005 7:13:02 PM
I had netflix with a best buy discount.. great serviceI have blockbuster now b/c they stopped the BBY discountblockbuster takes slightly longer to receive movies wheras netflix was pretty quick...but blockbuster gives you 2 (or 3, cant remember) free in store rentals a month
6/20/2005 10:09:31 PM
6/20/2005 10:09:43 PM
why don't you do the in-store blockbuster one? i do that now and go 2-3 times a day
6/20/2005 11:53:32 PM
^poor selection in most stores-ZiP!-
6/21/2005 9:07:43 AM
yea netflix has a fair amount more than blockbuster carries
6/21/2005 9:12:10 AM
I use blockbuster.com so i can use the 2 instore rentals on videogames.Blockbuster.com seems to have a pretty good selection to me. Right now im getting Solaris (Russian version) and Songs from the Second Floor so i have no complaints.[Edited on June 21, 2005 at 10:16 AM. Reason : qwereqr]

only complaint my mom had about blockbuster vs netflix was that netflix let you put movies in a queue that werent out yet... ie: sopranos seasons
6/21/2005 10:51:14 AM
MOMMY'S DOING A TV COMMERCIAL!
6/21/2005 11:04:28 AM
try peerflix...you trade any dvd you own for one you want for 99 cents and it's yours forever...pretty nifty...no charges other than that...you can trade a p.o.s. dvd for a brand new one for less than a dollar...lolhttp://www.peerflix.com

I'm trying out Blockbuster for a couple of months. Even though they seem to be slightly faster than Netflix, I would easily sacrifice a couple of rentals a month for Netflix's far superior website.
6/21/2005 2:18:42 PM
i've been using blockbuster since they started online and i love it...if you have any problems you can report them and they send out your next dvd or the same one before you send it back
6/21/2005 2:20:56 PM
so basically you can just start out with an old dvd you hate, and use peerflix as a $1 movie rental service where you keep the movie as long as you want?
6/21/2005 2:25:53 PM
6/26/2005 2:30:25 PM
go stick a cd in, if it fits, then netflix package fits.
6/26/2005 6:17:50 PM
has anyone else's netflix service been sucking for the past month? not receiving movies next day and not shipping out very fast? it's been flawless since i signed up in march, but lately has really been getting behind.i'm thinking about going to blockbuster.
8/16/2005 5:50:22 PM
works great in campus boxes. did it last year. fits and is timely.
8/16/2005 8:40:28 PM
^^ I've had that problem too.
8/18/2005 3:45:42 PM
are you renting and returning a lot of movies? If so, Netflix may be purposely stalling your shipments. It is all spelled out in their user agreement. They limit yours or delay them so that others can get movies too. The more you rent the higher probablity this will affect you.
8/19/2005 10:37:03 AM
^ My roommate suggested that that might be the problem...I guess other people are fiending for the first four seasons of "The West Wing" too.
8/19/2005 3:57:13 PM
^^ohhhh, interesting. i was suspecting that, because i rent/return tons and tons, and they keep getting slower and slower -ZiP!-
8/20/2005 11:30:39 AM
get blockbuster. go in the store get 2 movies, go back 4 hours later if you want and get 2 more.
8/20/2005 12:02:11 PM
^ that's good if you have a blockbuster that you drive by everyday or whatever and if you only want new releases and such. i had the movie pass before, but got netflix for the selection.
8/21/2005 10:02:51 PM
I don't know. I have been renting and returning quite a bit, but I still get everything next-day. I guess no one wants Star Trek Next Generation. Although, I have been noticing a few "Long Wait"s under movie status. Maybe they don't want me to see Diamonds Are Forever.
8/28/2005 8:39:03 PM
if you want an in store plan, check out hollywood video on blue ridge (better selection on older movies, 3 at a time for the price of 1 at a time at blockbuster or at least it was that way)
