I am definintely going to see this film. The amount of work that these guys put into this production is just amazing. I recommend seeing it, if only to gain a better understanding of the amount of creativity that floats around on this campus.
4/26/2005 8:31:14 PM
yea i really want to. depends on what im doing
4/26/2005 8:51:38 PM

4/26/2005 10:22:25 PM
^except there is little creativity in state of the union.I'm looking to go to it
4/26/2005 10:39:36 PM
only thing about this is it's a drama, i'm not a big drama fan and i think 90% of college kids feel the same way
4/27/2005 8:41:39 PM
^ I highly doubt that.EDIT: Depending on your definition of drama[Edited on April 27, 2005 at 9:03 PM. Reason : .]
4/27/2005 9:02:59 PM

4/28/2005 9:28:55 PM
so how was it?
4/28/2005 9:32:22 PM
Well damn I was out of town and missed it.
4/28/2005 9:46:21 PM
this was the worst most god aweful piece of garbage i have ever seen hands down period. At no time was there anything remotely good about this movie. I feel sorry for the actors b/c it is not their fault, even though the acting was bad too. It made no sense at any point, it was too long, and the dialouge repeated itself over and over and over and over and over at nausium until i felt like screaming at the screen to just shut the fuck up already. HORRIBLE, worst movie ever
4/28/2005 9:46:33 PM
it was so bad i can't even describe how bad it was with words. I am at a loss of words to use to describe just how awefulness of this movie this truly was.
4/28/2005 9:47:51 PM
yes, it was terrible.the actors, well, it's college. i'll leave it at thatthe writing was pretentious. i hated most of the characters. everybody is the victim was the theme, it seems. oh, the train scene. wow, that could not have been any more predictable, especially here at state.drawn out.
4/28/2005 9:51:34 PM
It was, as I had been predicting all along, complete and utter pretentious bullshit. Correction: complete and utter pretentious bullshit with embarassingly low production values. You know you're in for a treat when the title sequence is some old guy standing in front of a mic making bizarre, meaningless statements that the filmmaker believes are somehow powerful.Every independent film cliche you could imagine is on display here: color filters, sped-up filming a la Requiem for a Dream (the best part is some guy eating cereal in this sped-up manner), gratuitous split screens that run on ENTIRELY too long and don't even attempt to add anything to the film, etc. Pile on top of that atrocious acting, painful monologues, horribly disjointed and confusing flow, and the absolute worst inter-story "link" (the book) in the history of film, and you've got a recipe for a two hour long trainwreck. It's films like this that reaffirm my belief that the sale of video recorders to college students should be illegal. And before anyone asks, I only went there because I knew some people involved in the movie (and yes, I knew it was going to be this awful going in).
4/28/2005 9:53:30 PM
that dude at the beginning made no sense at all. What the hell, that movie took 2 hours of my life and i want them back
4/28/2005 9:55:44 PM
is it the same old guy talking that is in the trailer of the movie?
4/28/2005 10:04:01 PM
Yes. I knew I would hate him the moment I saw him in that trailer. He was a hundred times worse than I could've imagined.
4/28/2005 10:06:19 PM
shit, I wish I had gone
4/28/2005 10:10:40 PM
yeah i'll have to say i really hated that part of the trailer and didn't know if it made it to the movie or not....
4/28/2005 10:13:31 PM
Oh it made it to the movie all right. That guy was rambling on incoherently for at least ten minutes.
4/28/2005 10:15:39 PM
I've seen lots of student productions at UNC so my expectations were reasonably low. Still, occaisionally even amatuers make something decent, though usually only if they don't take themselves too seriously.Example:http://www.open-video.org/details.php?videoid=4862I still wouldn't mind seeing this movie.
4/28/2005 10:15:50 PM
your reviews are making me bloodlust for this movie. I am TOTALLY there.
4/28/2005 10:24:11 PM

4/28/2005 11:41:14 PM
I enjoyed the Library Scenes.
4/29/2005 12:50:23 AM
Pretentious film students get their just desserts? Perhaps.
4/29/2005 1:23:39 AM
4/29/2005 2:57:24 AM
Man...they used close-ups, they so stole that from Welles!
4/29/2005 6:50:24 AM
In my film class we watch some of the weirdest/most boring movies EVER. I mean, half of them have no plot whatsoever, and if they have a plot, it is the weirdest plot can think of. However, the instructor and the book refer to them as masterpieces and some of the greatest films of all time....I don't see it, but that is probably why i'm not a film major.
4/29/2005 7:42:47 AM
whoa! that's waschka!is it going to be showing again? i might check this out for my last hoorah for on campus stuff
4/29/2005 7:44:18 AM
i doubt it. and i definitely hope not.
4/29/2005 11:26:51 AM
I personally thought this film was fantastic. Brandon did an amazing job and I think it's going to kick ass in the film festivals later on in the summer/fall. Good job to everyone at Drop Frame!
4/29/2005 3:26:20 PM
they're gonna have to edit the thing down, theni like ambient things and all, but all the driving/walking/going to the bathroom is bogging down the film[Edited on April 29, 2005 at 3:44 PM. Reason : .]
