need memory cards to save, hard drive is optional (last picture above), and wireless controllers.
4/23/2005 11:37:28 AM
while i love the hard drive, it is probably a way they can cut down on the price so more people will want one initially. casual players can just opt for memory while ppl who play a ton or steal a ton can opt for the hard drive. sounded stupid at first but now that i think about it, it is a good idea.where are the other control ports! is it a multitap or behind that door to the right?
4/23/2005 11:48:15 AM
i like how the top two pictures and the bottom picture aren't the same thing
4/23/2005 11:56:55 AM
eh how so? and the idea of a removable harddrive is even better cuz sometimes i wanna play at a friends.
4/23/2005 11:58:46 AM
4/23/2005 12:08:05 PM
yeah, wireless controllers. that last pic is a picture of the removeable hard drive attached to the side.
4/23/2005 12:16:12 PM
i always felt like there was some delay, plus they are heavier cuz of batteries.
4/23/2005 12:16:49 PM
yeah but look at the eject icon. in the last pic its rotated 90 degrees from the first two
4/23/2005 12:35:59 PM
and the memory card slot font is different
4/23/2005 12:59:22 PM
yeah i see now. first too look like they might be renderings while last might be a prototype. or maybe early vs final prototypes.
4/23/2005 1:01:22 PM
Yeah, could just be me but 40 GB seems a little big for the hard drive, considering that the Xbox's was something like 6 GB, and it's optional for the 360
4/23/2005 1:12:07 PM
who produces hdd's that small anymore though :p the technology is so cheap that it isnt probably significantly more to move from 6 to 40.
4/23/2005 1:19:37 PM
theres no way microsoft would ever come out with something that nice. they dont have the industrial design saavy. im looking for pictures of the "xbox footlocker"
4/23/2005 1:22:42 PM
well, microsoft is gonna win for now because rumor is that ps3 wont be out til spring 2006ish. i personally prefer ps2 over xbox for most stuff except of course halo. haha, but since ps2 was out before xbox, i still think they probably got more sales in general but i could be wrong.
4/23/2005 1:35:54 PM
ps2 had the time to become the household standard which im sure affected its sales even after xbox/gc came out. Ms has been pushing hard to beat sony to the market this time around and it looks like they just might do it.

LOL XBOX IS SO HUGE LOL
5/13/2005 1:37:12 PM
what is so 360 about it?
5/13/2005 1:50:41 PM
^ thats the rotation it does when you chuck it out of your 2nd story dorm
5/13/2005 1:52:06 PM
Its internal clock follows the Roman 360 day calendar, I believe.
5/13/2005 1:53:05 PM
it's the temperature at which pirated games burn
5/13/2005 2:10:08 PM
It's the number of minutes it will work before MS realizes they fucked something up and issues a recall.
5/13/2005 2:17:07 PM
Gay, they are trying to tap into that iPod minimalist look....I'm still getting one tho
5/13/2005 2:49:26 PM
^ i dont mind the minimalist look. im actually surprised microsoft actually made something that looked halfway decent. whats gay about it is their controller. looks like the gravis eliminator aftershock.at least it doesnt look like the tumor that was the first controller.

5/13/2005 3:16:41 PM
yeah, so whoever thought it wasnt the real thing that i posted can suck a nut!
5/13/2005 3:48:10 PM
5/13/2005 3:48:11 PM
i suppose since you posted twice you want someone to suck both nuts?
5/13/2005 3:59:46 PM
The controller is pretty much the same as the current controller, just wireless and a different color. The size is approximately the same (as well as button configuration).Backwards compatibility hasn't been announced, and it's possible they don't even know yet (since such a feature is entirely software at this point). But, the controller arrangement could mean it's likely.

http://media.gear.ign.com/media/747/747951/imgs_1.htmlgo there and look at the pics of the controller. thats gay that the triggers are up top now. i liked them on the back as oposed to ps2 but whatever.
5/13/2005 10:14:42 PM
i just put down my preorder at eb on capital. every other eb was already full on preorders for the first shipment on the day it comes out.

These controllers are getting out of hand. I remember back to the oh so simple controller that the NES came with. Nothing can or will ever top that one.
6/7/2005 4:18:20 PM
the new controllers allow for a lot more moves and control over your character, although it does require a little more hand eye coordination than the earlier controllers, they are so much better
6/7/2005 11:04:15 PM
november 25 for the console and november 22 for the first set of games.http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/647/647185p1.html

i thought that there were still going to be wired controllers, but only offered in the cheaper version of the system that doesn't include the hard drive or headset

XBOX 360 Premium Edition:- Detachable hard drive- wireless controller- faceplate- headset- component HD-AV cable- xbox live silver membershipprice: $399-------------------------------XBOX 360 Core System:- wired controller- faceplate- standard AV cableprice: $299the premium is also supposed to be backwards compatible whereas the core system is not.there were a few more differences. there's a comparison sheet at best buyI happened to see a "date" for Halo 3, which is xbox 360 only... 5/15/06 (which will get pushed back another year)[Edited on September 5, 2005 at 11:51 PM. I'd rather have a 'wired' controller. Sure you don't have the tangle if you go wireless but you also have a heavier controller that you have to keep feeding with batteries. I even had a wireless controller go bad because a battery vomited acid all up in the controller. Batteries will do that if the controller doesn't shut off properly (putting a constant drain on the battery). Wired for me from now on.No harddrive? That was the only plus for the original xbox. Maybe things are different with new memory cards. Maybe they are bigger. I just got tired of buying a seperate memory card because the sports games of the day typically ate up 60% of a card (dreamcast era). You had to buy multiple cards or erase game data. Most games required a memory card. The harddrive got rid of all that. I still have save games from games I rented years ago.Memory cards would be ok if they had storage enough for 10+ sports titles and a way to connect it to a USB/firewire port on a CPU to move save games to it for archiving/sharing online.[Edited on September 6, 2005 at 10:51 AM. ^^ the idea is that to be backwards compatible, the Xbox developers are having to write an Xbox emulator to run on the new 360, and to play your old Xbox games you will end up basically having to rip them and save them to the new 360's hard drive, then the emulator will run/support only "selected" games
