Fucking stupid idea. Why the fuck should the Wolf Web tacitly endorse a gimmick candidate? I swear to God, you guys are gonna feel pretty dumb about all this a year from now.

[Edited on April 4, 2005 at 12:47 PM. Reason : Why should TWW endorse ANY candidate? Let them work for it. Let them come HERE.]

[Edited on April 4, 2005 at 12:47 PM. Reason : I mean, where's this pirate motherfucker been?]

^^^Your pessimistic rhetoric is so tired. You need a new gimmick.

The Wolf Web more or less did endorse a whole list of candidates two years ago. They allowed a promotional story on the front page for Wolf Web candidates with a thumb up next to the "best choice."

http://www.thewolfweb.com/story.aspx?story=411

I know CrazyJ didn't do it, but he allowed it, and having that on the front page is much more blatant endorsement than an icon. And no, I don't envision regretting my vote.

Yeah, but we endorsed them because they fuckin' came here and campaigned to us and listened to us. Damn. We knew we had their sympathetic ear. This pirate motherfucker ain't showed up here once.

That's true, but neither have the other candidates. I am fairly confident that he will show up here after the election. It's not as if he's been inaccessible.

Do you have something against E-Mail?

mailto:ncsupiratecaptain@gmail.com

Look, TWW has evolved. It's not a cohesive social group like it may have been its early days. There are no "Wolf Web Issues." I enjoy this place, but it is not like some remote colony that requires special political attention. A powerful group, at times, to be certain, but virtually everyone on here is represented on campus in real life. Thus, they have access to other forms of lobbying.

The constituency shouldn't have to lobby to candidates, jackass. It's the responsibility of the candidates to address the constituency.

I happen to believe that the Pirate Captain will address the constituency as effectively, if not more effectively than the other candidates. You're just looking for something pointless to bitch about, as usual. Your opinion has been duly noted.

But at the same time, the constituents have to meet the candidates half way. I don't expect the candidates to come to my house and sit down and have a 1 on 1 chat with me about what I think they need to do (in fact, I'd probably shoot anyone who did that).

That and when it comes down to it, The Pirate Captain is no more anonymous than any of the other candidates. Sure they use their real names, but their names are just as anonymous to me as "The Pirate Captain".

You never see their names until election time comes arround, and most people really don't know a damn thing about them anyway.

The only time you ever see the candidates out in the brick yard is when their campaigning.

Now that isn't to say The Pirate Captain will be any different, but it seems to me that if I'm going to vote for an anonymous face, for a position in a body that doesn't seem to matter, and be ignored the rest of the year, I might as well vote for someone who's mildly entertaining about it.

If the Technician can endorse candidates for the election, I see no reason TWW can't. Besides, who says the logo has to be for TPC? Maybe it's for Jack Sparrow.

Whether or not he wins, it's been an interesting election because of that character. It's worthy of a logo for a day or two.

Yeah, give TPC some credit

- The turnout was about 5% more then State's record
- He got over twice the votes then his runner-up
