and shit

not a bad idea. Might be hard to implement w/some people using crazycode and others using straight HTML.

what thread doesnt have pictures...

this one

what if the person who started topic got to decide whether or not pictures would be allowed?so that the icon would denote that pictures could be in the thread.(lack of icon would obviously be just text - ignoring ascii pics)

There's a decent idea. How about letting a user decide which users wouldn't be allowed to post, too?

Yeah I would kind of appreciate a feature like this... I can't count the number of times my boss has been in the room and I'll click on a seemingly innocent thread and a big ole pair a titties will spring up on my screen.not good.

or just a small link at the top "new mail - logout - profile - pictures: off"joe

Yeah I know how to do it insaneman Just doing it efficiently since we get 100,000+ pageviews/day is a problem.*I was referring to the camera icon...I wasn't talking about the pictures on/off thing. I don't like the idea of the topic originator specifying whether pictures are to be allowed. I think that should be more of a user thing. [Edited on November 9, 2001 at 12:25 PM. Reason : blah]

ya i thought yo shit might not be able to handle it joe.I really dont give a damn about turning pictures off, but if soembody else does, they should use netscape 3 which i think has an option to turn off pictures.

the idea to let the originator of the thread choose whether images would be allowed was that it might be easier to implement.i think the best way is the option whether to display images in the message boards or not, but if implementation isnt' easy - the idea shouldn't necessarily be abandoned because the best way won't work.

I think the best way is for those who do not want pictures to use netscape 3 and turn them off from there.

that does not seem like a viable option for those in campus labs.
