I'm not a tightwad. I might even pay the premium fee anyway, just as a charity donation. But I'm looking for a SUBSTANTIAL reason to join. Consider the following:- I can't get online in my room (computer is obsolete & can't afford a new one) so I'm at the mercy of campus labs.- I'm not into html tricks (colors, large fonts, etc). Just wanna chat, tell jokes, & discuss topics with friends.- A status name would be a nice conversation starter, but I can live without it.- I'm absolutely NOT interested in any kind of elitist snobbery, i.e. "I'm a preemie & you're not" (please take note, those few of you who HAVE done this - it's most unbecoming)- The only advantage would be access to the Palace, but I'm guessing that's primarily a lot of inside jokes & references to parties/events that won't be applicable to me b/c I'm a grad student & MUCH older than everyone else. So, enlighten me. why should I join? What other advantage(s) would there be? Is there ever something in the Palace that I would find worthwhile? Are there some other substantial perks that would appeal to me?Sincerely, Eric ThePitts.

I haven't signed up for a premium membership for several of the reasons you stated. I was this close to doing so early on just to help reimburse the management for everything they've put into running this site. But with each new "feature" that is created for premium subscribers and they ways that the premium members use them, I want less and less to be a part of it.

You're so full of shit, bartleby. If you really cared about supporting the site but didn't want to be part of the evil premium empire, you'd just give them money anyway.

I just wanted to pay the guys back for their effort. They deserve it.

Jake wants you to be a Premium Member.

What the hell is the Palace??
10/25/2001 2:31:30 PM
a seperate forum board for premium only

because jake pays for all of this and you use it and frequent it. If you ran a service wouldnt you like to make back the money you were spending to help provide a service for others. He isnt turning a profit or anything.

The main purpose of becoming a premium subscriber is if you guys enjoy the wolfweb enough to want to help reimburse us for the costs of running the site. It is nowhere near free, and consumes more time than you can imagine. The perks are just added bonuses, our way of saying thanks. If you wish to help us out, then go for it.And kdawg(c) you don't know anything about that picture and where it came from, so I don't think you are in any position to judge him. And isn't there a little something in the Bible about judging people?

yeah, if you're going to become premium it should definitely NOT be for the palace!HTML is cool for a lot of people, though. Mainly, if you spend more than 7 hrs a week on this site you should strongly consider at least giving them something, if you don't subscribe.

good point matti paid for a subscription not because i wanted to do fonts and colors...hell i didnt even know html, not because of the premium palace...it wasnt around when i did, but because i wanted to be nice...i post a lot, so i thought id pay for a portion of the bandwidth i was using

Excellent point guys. I've decided to join, NOT for the perks, but to help support something good & worthwhile.
