i remember when I was a little kid and would collect bags full of the damn things. I think $100 was the most I ever received, and that was with a trailer full of the bags.

i used to do it at homewe'd get anywhere from $40-$80 for a compact pickup truck load ('88 mazda b2200)we'd get closer to $40 for a full load of uncrushed, and closer to $80+ for a crushed load. we also had to drive about 45 min to get to the place that paid for them. this was all in the marion area, NC.it won't support you unless you are hardcore about collecting and storing, but it's good for some extra spending money. it's best to save up a bunch and have a pickup truck to haul them all at once. otherwise, you spend more in gas and time than is worth it.we used to have a local chineese restaurant save cans for us (my mom tutored the owner's kids). we'd collect from them whenever they had a can full, then we'd wash and crush them (chineese trash is nasty shit), then we'd store them under the deck and take off a load ever month or two.

hahaha i waited tables at a chinese place for a while (mom was friends w/ the 0\/\/n3rs)the trash is nastyhow many bags would you estimate = a truckload?there used to be a machine at the corner of holly springs / sunset lake road that paid you change when you threw cans in it, it was awesome

hmmm, we used trash bags that would fit in those huge trashcans they use at high schools...i guess they're like 50 gallons?? we'd fill them about halfway with crushed cans (any more and the bags start to tear when you lift them). we could fit about 2 rows of 3 bags each in the truck that would go up a little past the rail, then pile 3 or more bags on top of that depending on what we had.using big bags is best cause you don't really have to tie anything down if they all weigh themselves down and you have it packed in there. just throw a few straps over the bags on top and you're set to go...no tarps to deal with.

the trick is to put a little pebble in the can before you crush it so it weighs more....
8/1/2003 1:40:07 PM
and then, grasshopper, the key is to get the pebble out of the crushed can without disturbing it.
